So, I own a Jackson dinky DK2FS Japan made ( or at least I was told ) that was purchased around 2008, I pictured it to be a fairly new guitar back then.
I was a beginner and was into metal, went to a store, enjoyed it's sound and bought it, didn't care for much more than that... Recently I was doing research on it's neck pickup that I always found to be surprisingly good for a duncan design, due to the lack of info found, I tried to take a look at the serial number to pinpoint the actual specs and according to what I've read on the internet the guitar should be a lot older than I thought.

On the headstock it says only Jackson, the serial number on the neck joint plate is 9857528, on the bridge it says Jackson and " Licensed under Floyd Rose Pats", I believe the FS on the model name stands for  the duncan design ( or is it made by seymour duncan??) fire storm installed.

Seems to be indeed a Japan made Jackson with second hand hardware ,Could you help me to properly identify it and the year it was made?

I have two MIJ Jacksons that are 97XXXXX serial numbers from around 2004-2006.  I'd guess around 2008 or later.

You can go through the old Jackson catalogs on their site and see if you can narrow it down from there.

There's also a thread on the JCF forum that can help you out.
Guitars:
Jackson Kelly KE3 - MIJ (Distortion/Jazz)
Jackson DKMGT Dinky (EMG 81/85)
ESP E-II Eclipse Custom (JB/'59)
ESP LTD EC-1001FR (EMG 81/60)
Fender MIM Strat

Amps:
Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier Roadster 212
Laney IronHeart IRT-Studio
Peavey Vypyr 30
Peavey ReValver Amp Sims
TOOOO many T.C. Electronic Pedals. . .

hmm so I wasn't the only one, were you ever able to track your guitar's age? I went to the JCF as well, I'm waiting for some jackson expert to drop by.
Thank you!

Don't quote me on it but I think that is a bit older than 2008, didn't most of the MIJ dinkys from that time have black hardware and legit duncans in them? That's what my DK2 has serial 9822xx.

the ones a bit older then around 07, 08? Had the crome hardware and duncan design pickups.

EDIT: Didnt see your serial there I dont know what im talking about. Unless the plate is switched,
Jackson DK2
1962 Fender Esquire
PEAVEY JSX 212
PEAVEY 6505+ 112

I was told in the JC forum that all MIJ after 2006 have seymour duncans in them not duncan design. So my guitar was manufactured before 2006. But I can't find in catalogues.

Are those two tone knobs and one volume or two volume and one tone? Also, what does the mini toggle switch do? Coil split? Ebony fretboard or just dark rosewood? Looks like a nice guitar?

That Floyd looks like a JT580LP.

I'm a bit of a Jackson nut but can't give you much info off hand about year.

1 volume, 1 tone, the other knob control the DD firestorm circuit (boost) activated by the switch. Dark rosewood. =)
