Me and a few buddies are starting a surf rock band, and I'm in the market for a new bass guitar and amp. I was wondering if there's any bass that would be much better than any other for what were playing. I do know that a Fender Precision bass is a good option, but I was hoping for more options than just that. Any advice would be helpful for me. Thanks!.

The brief time I was in a surf rock band, I had a Danelectro longhorn.  The sound was perfect for that genre, but that bass is pretty much a one trick pony soundwise.  Go with a Pbass--its not as limiting genre-wise
