Like the title says, if I try to bend more than a quarter step on any string and any fret above 13 it mutes itself. It sounds almost like its pushing against a fret wire somewhere. Is there an easy fix for this? Maybe just tightening or loosening the truss?

This is usually caused by uneven frets or if the action of the guitar is simply way too low.

Most likely a high fret above the 13th fret.

Yeah either a high fret or your action is too low (this usually happens on vintage-style guitars like a 50's reissue strat or tele)

Yup action is probably too low. On top of that the truss rod might need adjusted. If you're not comfortable doing something like that on your own, i'd suggest taking it to a guitar tech.

Use a straight edge to see if you have any high frets. Assuming your action and neck relief are set properly.
