Hi all, I´ve been playing guitar for 3 years now and I think that I focus to much on the notes that I play rather than my rhythm and timing. So I decided to pickup and utalize a metronome in my practise but I can't seem to get used to it Because I never really thought about timing. (counting the beats while foot tapping and focussing on the click etc.)
In the past I skipped the timing and rhythm exercises and I feel really bad about it now hahah.

Any help?

Thanks

Start the metronome first, but instead of immediately playing to it, try and hear in you head how your riffs/licks/solos/exercises would go with the set beat.  Get a feel for the beat by clapping/tapping with your guitar parts envisioned in your mind.  For particularly difficult parts its best to slow the tempo right down and gradually build up.

Alternatively, try a drum machine or drum app as some may find it easier to lock into a drumbeat than a metronome click.
