Dan, What the hell do you have against bass players who play just the root notes of chords. There are tons of great songs which only have bass parts that follow the chords and play the roots.( i.e.-Almost all of AC/DC and by judging from popularity, I'd say people enjoy their music.)Why bag on anyone's certain style of bass playing if it gets the job done? Or why bag on someone if they enjoy listening to those particular bass lines? To each his own man. Should we all check with you Mr. Wizard before we submit an opinion of our own? Wouldn't it be an awful boring world if everyone played like Flea? Variety is the spice of life.

Now, one of my favorite bass lines- All American Alien Boy by Ian Hunter. Guess the bass player.

^ I have nothing against playing the root when it enhances the song, I just don't see how it can be a great bassline. It can make hte song great, but that doesn't make the bassline itself great.

Like AC/DC as you said. A lot of the songs are great. Are any of the basslines even good? I can think of one, and it's hard to notice if you're not a bassist (For those about to rock). They enhance the music as the bass should, but as standalone "favorite basslines", most suck.

And no it woulddn't be entertaining if everything was Flea. Wouldn't it be entertaining if everyone listened instead of acting like you though?

I do listen. Maybe that's my problem. I listen to you trying to make everyone think your some kind of musical genius when most of the time your just quoting something you've read out of your Mel Bay bass lesson book. Everyone has their OWN opinion. That's just something you have to accept. God forbid someone to disagree the the almighty UTBDan. ****. When you've lived and played the club gigs and actually have some whiskers, maybe then you can come back and talk the talk.

I have accepted it. I'm simply questioning the logic behind it.

And I've never said I'm almighty. Only you. You really need to take that stick out of your ass.

And I start the gigs the 25th. I'll be playing atleast once a month at a gig the whole summer, and after that probably more often.
