Well, I got the okay from Cas and Beat to do this, so here goes. Because Doug (Cas) doesn't frequent this forum as much as I do, I am going to combine the two lists so I can still edit them when someone needs a Jazz person added. Since WindJammer isn't here anymore, I might have to do the same with that list too.

And that's it. If you guys want to add an artist please do so in THIS fashion.

If they are a band, tell me, and I will add a Jazz Band section to the bottom and continue from there. This was originally Cas's post, just cleaned up for the sake of readability (sorry Doug).

Thank you and Good Night!

BTW: Beat, can you sticky this thread now, and unsticky/delete the other one?

Nice, a lot easier having it all in one big list.

And also, why was Windjammer banned?

For spamming and flaming in MT. It was quite a read. Cas had this huge 6 post flame on Wind for being an egotistical jerk and for trying to start a public flame war. It was pretty funny.

In the "S" part of Blues can your missing Memphis Slim
If everyone liked what I did, I probably wouldn't be playing anything of depth.

They're guitarists (holdsworth and di meola.) and yes they're jazz.

I would put him under blues personally but some may disagree: Robben Ford! (I'm not good at remembering artists so I'll just suggest them when I'm listening to them.)

strat man, have you considered Shawn Lane? He is not purely jazz as purists may argue, more of fusion ; but as a great musician could he make it to that list ?

What instrument, and can someone else answer if he would be a jazz artist to consider. I don't really listen to Jazz as much as I'd like, so, I'm kind of in the dark here about these artists and have to take the people's word on them.

Richie Kotzen! He's done some pure blues album, but most of his stuff is on the fusion side.

Oh yeah, guitar

Also add Snowy White (ex Thin Lizzy) to the blues artists

Edit: And another thing, where's Bobby Mcferrin? Best damn scat singer there is
He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt.
He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice.

Hi, I'm an idiot and i was just wondering if SRV plays much melancholy, slower blues stuff. Could you compare any of his music to any classic rock like cream or LZ?

Cheers

thats a great list....only some of the jazz artists are in bands known by different names so beginners will find it a bit hard to get their music
