Are their any quick-fixs for the sorness you fingers get after playing for to long, or are you just done for the day?

Also, what causes it, and what can be done to prevent it?

its a good thing, everybody has been thru it.. eventually the skin will harden on your fingers and youll have calluses. After that the soreness will cease (hopefully)

anyway for the moment if i was you id take it as a sign showing your improvement on guitar and that your practice isnt in vain

Keep playing and make those fingers bleed!

..

or you can rest then and let them heal..... that might work...

I swim a lot. Has water been known to keep the callouses from growing?

yes, if they bleed, dip them in salt. also, you'll be putting hair on your chest. no but really the longer you play the harder your finger tips will become.

Avoid getting your hands wet immediately before playing. You should wash and dry them thoroughly and wait for a period of time before picking up your guitar.

a thin layer of crazy glue, spread on the tip of the finger with a damp paper towel.

^^ I never thought of that when i began!

And you shouldnt play till they bleed. Thats just stupid. Keep playing while they hurt, but if it gets semi unbearable, stop and rest.

Let it go like that naturally. It'll only take a couple of weeks. My fingers are so solid, i can stab the end of them into the string ends and i can barely feel it. (I dont do it on purpose, only when im retuning).

How can you walk off a finger injury???

Anyway, i've tried putting plaster on my index finger because thats the one i use most but sometimes the plaster either wears out or catches on other strings. I heard that if you put your fingers in vinegar that its makes them harder faster. I think here on UG was where i heard it.

Oh yes good advice SilentDeftone

Ever wondered why there are different letters on a keyboard? It would seem that you continually mash random keys in order to get your message across.

My step bro told me that when he first started, he used to dip his fingers in vinegar and hold them in front of the fire. I haven't tried it yet, though...

Don't worry, it's just the skin hardening up on your fingers, soon enough you won't even notice it.
Where did it all go right?

well i am still beginner, and for the first week they where painful and sore. and at one point almost got a blister. now in week 2 of playing they no longer hurt....but i have no feeling in my finger tips.....which is kinda annoying. but is this how they are ment to be? to be a guitarist you gotta sacrifice your sense of touch in your fingers? owwwww
