Solo-ing:

Step 1 (optional):
If you have a partner ask him to play this traditional blues riff:

A bit long, yes, but simple and basic, nontheless.

Step 2:
Well for all you people who want to solo, this is the best secret out there.

Now while your partner is doing that blues riff over there its your turn to solo out. You can do this buy using the PENTATONIC (or MINOR PENTATONIC) scale.

One of the Easiest minor pentatonic scales is on the 9th fret. Try this:

|--------------------------------------11---9------------|
|----------------------------------------------12---9----|

Sounds nice huh? Well the easiest way to solo is simply doing that. I'm not lying either. Well maybe Im twisting the truth a little bit, but, the way most guitarists solo is by variating a pentatonic scale, like so:

|-------11-----------------9-----------------------------|
|---------------------11-----11--------------------------|
|-------------------------------11--9--------------------|
|-------------------------------------12--9--------------|

Yeah that sounds even cooler don't it? Well technically, all solo-ing sounds cool, so your in luck. The more advanced you get, the more bends and slides that are added in:

|-------11-----------------9-----------------------------|
|---------------------11-----11--------------------------|
|-------------------------------11--9--------------------|
|-------------------------------------12p9---------------|

Once guitarists are past that they even mix around the different notes of the minor pentatonic scales, freely ( hence the word freestyle.) But don't think you should just stay in the 9th fret pentatonic scale, no, try using the 7th fret and the 5th fret, (The fifth fret would normally be used with that guitar riff at the top, however I used the ninth to make it easier to practice) and the 12th fret and so on and so forth.

Traditionally after you are done freestyling you will do the basic blues riff and your partner can freestyle solo(can't always hog the spotlight.)

I hope you have learned the easiest way to solo freestyle. Remember to practice your pentatonic scale!

It's pentatonic, not penatonic-and specifically -you have the minor pentatonic scale listed there.

a little simple though.
I need my guitar -but isnt your blues lick in A and your scale (at the 9th fret) in C#? - Might want to run that scale at the 5th fret to fit that blues rythem.
