All I know is I love the song Fire and Water. Amazing

Not to mention quite a few other ones. Solid band.

And if it was the same singer in Free and Bad Co. which of them was first? I don't know too much about either band

I'm probably the biggest Kossoff fan on here. Free are an awesome band. Mouthful of Grass alone is better than anything Led Zeppelin ever did. Free are the better Zep. True story.

Bad Company were the 70's pop rock cash cow that financially sorted Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke for life.

"Fire and Water" is my favourite Free album!

Wishing Well is my favourite Free song!

Paul Kossoff was a good guitarist and it's a shame he's no longer around.

i have to agree with you there, in some ways free were better than zeppelin but in other ways they were not. just take a listen to 'be my friend' on Free live, its total and utter genius.

Free are absolute legends. Paul Kossof is a genious with his guitar and Paul Rodgers is a lyrical genious. I still need to see his tour with Queen. I am trying desperately to get my hands on their work, I managed to d/l a few songs but they're hard to find.

Free > Bad Company by far.
Paul Kossoff is godly.

Tons of Sobs is really good... along with everything else.

I agree with you more than any other UG'er.

I'd recommend that the American folk in here try and find some more Free stuff other than Fire and Water. It's a great album, but by no means their best. Still, Free seem to have more compilation CD's than any other band I've ever seen, so pick up 'Chronicles' or 'Molten Gold: The Anthology' and be amazed, y'all.

GOD yes. Koss' guitar work in that song makes me shiver. You can hear the man crying out for help, and it sounds like he's being totally ignored, or treated as a lost cause who's already dead. You can hear it in Rodgers' voice.

One of the most brutally real tracks I've ever heard.

Free Is better than Bad Company for sure. Some of their stuff is even better than All right now. But if you don't like more subtle rock you may not like it that much... They seem to me as a great cross between soul and heavy blues rock. Anyway
Free
Fire and Water
Free live
are their best albums and a clear showcase of Kossoff's guitarplaying briliance. BTW, does
anyone else think the Bad company guitarist Mick Ralphs ripped off Kossoff's playing a lot or is it just me?

Everyone took something from Koss' bag of tricks. More than a few people borrowed stuff from Paul Rodgers' vocal phrasing as well.

Free is sweet.
He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt.
He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice.

I haven't seen much Free film footage, YouTube might be a good start. I do have them playing All Right Now on the IOW DVD. They are well minced and play the song a wee bit different from the studio version but it's still kick ass. One of my favourit Free songs is Mr Big.

Paul Rodgers still cuts the mustard singing for Queen. I have the DVD. No one could replace Freddie Mercury but Rodgers brings a whole new dimension to Queen, and they even play a few Free classics. Worth buying.

Was.

What's everyone's favorite album by these guys?

I really love Fire and Water, especially "Oh I Wept", but Heartbreaker is also a great album, though Kossof wasn't on much of it.
