my band doesnt have a definite genre were shooting to be different and have some weird thigns that most of the bands around here dont have. were not going for incredibly complex music were going for good songs that you can sing along to that are catchy yet were not pop punk. or liek screamo its hard to define i guess. but is it a good goal to shoot for to bee different?

Absolutely. That's how legends are made. You get noticed when you stand out from everyone else and it leads to bigger and better things.

Of course aim to be different. Great music and creativity go hand in hand.
