Walls of Jericho was my first power metal album. I don't listen to them a whole lot anymore but they're an awesome band. I only have WOJ and the 2 keeper albums. I think that's all I want; I hear the rest is crap :/

I like Gamma Ray more now.

Brilliant band. The only Helloween song i've heard that i dont really like is First Time. Everything else i've heard is great.

Has anyone heard Sonata Arcticas cover of I Want Out? It sounds pretty good.
I was bad with usernames at age 12. Ah woe.

Isn't that a Hammerfall cover? I haven't listened to it in a long time but yeah I thought the vocals sounded like Hammerfall. SA did cover Die with your boots on though, that's pretty good.

Helloween are an amazing band. They continue to release excellent albums after more than 20 years and 13 studio albums. One of rock/metals unsung heroes.
Andi Deris is the best singer the band have ever had. Kiske would have destroyed Helloween as he kept rejecting song ideas. We may never have had great songs such as 'Where The Rain Grows'. I heard it was written prior to PBGA album but rejected by Kiske as it was too heavy supposedly.

yeah kiske was destroying the band (listen to pink bubbles go ape & chameleon)... it's a good thing he left

To be honest i think they were still good albums showing a different side to the band but Deris got Helloween back on the track they should have been on.
Anyone been watching the live videos of the band from the Graspop festival which have been posted online?

Ok, I have Walls of Jericho and the first 2 Keeper albums...should I get anything else? I'd have to say WoJ is my fav, followed by Keepr 1 then Keepr 2, if that helps.

^ you seem to like the very old ****... I don't think you would like the new stuff very much...

don't try chameleon and pink bubbles go ape.... try albums like time of the oath & the dark ride
they are kinda hard and dark
#68
well, the only albums I have are the Keeper of the Seven Keys Part I and II and Treasure Chest Part I and II, but they're awesome. So awesome in fact that even my parents like it!

Some nice advice from flamencogod, also check out the new album if you can. Annoying they had to put the album on two discs(6 songs & 7 songs) but supposedly because some older cd players would have difficulty playing the whole thing.

Well they have some european festival dates and then a tour of Ukraine/Russia and finally a trip to the US. I know they are playing in New York at BB Kings, more dates are to be announced for the US. Hopefully they get a good crowd at the shows.

Michael Kiske all the way.
Helloween lost the plot after seven keys part 2 when Kai left.
#73
they didn't completely lose it, but they did lose it a bit.

Yeah . What exactly did they lose? Well apart from band members that were fired/departed or passed away(Ingo RIP). Even in these cases the replacements have never disappointed. Their albums have always been solid with improvement each time. Not really fair to judge if you've only purchased a hand full of albums or less as the band have gone through so many different styles.
#75
Yeah, i would say that Kai was their best, followed by Andy Deris, then Kiske.

if i could make a supergroup, i would definetly put helloween's ex drummer... i heard he died. i don't know if it's true. i don't even know the line-up, since all the cds i have of theirs are burned and i never really cared much until now. anyone care to educate me?

I really like Kai but Kiske has a better voice (well when you compare the Helloween albums.) However Kiske can't do that awesome Kai scream...so classic. I've only heard a couple Deris songs but he's got good range it seems.
