First day back at work today, and I found this had arrived in my absence

My original though when I pre-ordered was, I must confess, that this was a "best of" Cat Power - it isn't. It is, however, a bloody marvellous album and I wanted to share that.

Love it? Hate it? "Meh" it? Well why not tell the whole world in here

Contemplated making a thread myself, but I knew one would pop up sooner or later. It's a very good album, and it puts me in a very good mood as well. Favorite tracks are "The Greatest", "Lived In Bars", "Willie", "The Moon", and "Love & Communication", but it's all golden.

Yeah, I thought it was going to be some sort of greatest hits when I first heard about the title as well. Haven't managed to pick a copy up just yet, but will do after the next credit card bill I'm sure.

I listened to the title track at CD Warehouse. Downloaded it as soon as I got home.

Oh it's good, I got it on an impulse an I really like it. The vocal style really reminds me of Fiona Apple at some points. But yeah I really am amazed by it. I am planning on getting the rest of her albums once I have money.

i respect that chan wanted to do something diff, but if she ends up abandonning her old sound im going to be very very disappointed. the new alb is teetering on the norah jones side. but, i could never turn my back on good old cp.

if only she would make another myra lee-esque album. i would probably jizz my pantalones. one time i almost got to touch her. damn security guards ruining the intentions of little creepies like me.

"What's up with chick songwriters obsessing with the moon recently?" For example:

Cat Power- The Moon
Neko Case- I Wish I Was the Moon
Dar Williams- Calling the Moon

My theory is that it stems from the archetypal femininity inherent in the moon itself. It has always been the unconscious parallel to the sun, (its masculine counterpart.) Dar Williams in particular follows this trend; she refers to the moon as "her". (There's also the ancient belief of the connection between the moon not only controlling the tides but menstrual cycles as well.)

Put THAT in your pipe and smoke it

Got it, very good album. There's a few tracks that I didn't like so much but I'm just listening straight through it right now and couldn't tell you what track it was, probably around 5/6? It's no 'Moon pix', but she's managed to keep the quality songwriting going for the length of the album. Good stuff.

I really like it. I think its better than What Would The Community Think.

I got What Would The Community Think and Moon Pix for this past Christmas. It's hard to think how I got along without them. I still like You Are Free the best, but these two have quite enrichened my Cat Power experience.

"Cross Bones Style" anyone?

Chan: gorgeous, talented, adorable, and so genuine.
