im learning wonderful world by louis armstrong so how do you play Gm7/C?
when irish eyes are smiling, you've had to too much to drink cus eyes dont smile, mouths do

The most common voicing is probably this one:

that's not a C# it's a Db

Yes they are, which makes it easy, as you can cover all 12 7b9 chords using 3 chromatically spaced voicings (for someone who wonders what this means, our voicings have 4 notes that in a closed voicing would each be a minor third from the next chord tone. Therefore, depending on which note is your "root", or in this case whichever note is your b9, you can call this chord 4 different 7b9s.)

Congards!!!! It's what jazzers have been doing for years for chord melodies with closed tight voicing and comping with a band .Playing all the notes isn't necassaryThe diminished and the augmented are subs for altered chords
(chords with a b5 or 9 or #5 or 9).and is pages of expalantion but ..trust me?.heheheehaw!!

The original chord of this post is just a C over a Bb to me. ?yep the root is expendable for the most part. This chord is morel C11 than Gmi7/C.Check out the tune ?I can't make you love? me by Bonnie Raitt for a cool pop use.

1st Verse:
[Cmaj7]Turn down the
[Bm7/E]lights,
[Bm7]Turn down the
[Cmaj7]bed

The Bmi 7th/E is really a E11 or easier a D major with E in bass. In this case it's the bass player bass notes since Bmi7 is also a D major but with a B in the bass.

The great jazz pianist Bill Evans(Miles Davis) is known for his stacked triads to create extensions. Of course keyboard voicing is much more versatile than fretboard.Small intervals are easier(way easy!!) where on the guitar they are harder.

Here?s a triad trick to work on .Every closed voicing Major, Minor and Diminished triad can be made from the 3(that?s right ...there?s only 3 shapes) of the augmented triad by altering one note up or down one fret. That?s how jazz guys get all those moving lines on one chord and connect so smoothly.Good luck..have fun!

if you take dim7th chord and lower any of its tones a half step, you get a 7th chord who's root is the note you lowered down to.
