No, but it'd be better if it was like "Ted Valium & The Pharmacists." Get it? Stupid, probably. Like Johnny Casino & The Gamblers!!

They're a bit of a 50/50 band really. I don't own everything by them, but what I do have is either really good or really crap.

^ted's a good song writer and the music is usually pretty good too. Some of the songs are really catchy. I can't listen to them for any extended period of time. I've been tempted to check out his old band "Chisel" though.

His brother (Chris)'s band "The Van Pelt" i will always rank higher.

Chisel were much better. I used to have an early live set of them and although the quality was a bit crap, the actual songs were really good.

Ted Leo/Rx is amazing. i have 3 LPs (not the Self Titled, which i hear is meh anyways), wanting some EPs...Tyranny of Distance is excellent all around and stands as a great whole album, but none of the songs really stick out to me. Hearts of Oak stands as a really good album, with some great songs like "Building Skyscrapers in the Basement", "Where Have All the Rude Boys Gone", "Bridges, Squares", "The Crane Takes Flight" and "High Party", while the other songs can be forgettable at times. Shake the Sheets is less of a stand-out album as a whole, but "Me and Mia", "Counting Down the Hours", and "Little Dawn" are absolute classics in their own right and are heavy hitters. "Walking to Do" and "Shake the Sheets" are good songs, not as good though...and again, the rest more or less forgettable songs.

in ANY case, Ted Leo can sure put a message out there with class and definitely beauty..."Me and Mia" and "Little Dawn" should be considered indie classics in themselves...

wow, this is probably the easiest way to become a diety ever. my friend gave me the relatively new one, and i've heard about half the songs from tyranny of distance. i like them, but i think that a lot of fans over-rate them.

Tyranny of Distance is such an amazing album, musically, and even more so lyrically. Ted Leo manages to write songs with a dept and vocabulary seldom seen in music.

I'm seeing them with Death Cab next month. I downloaded two songs and like what I'm hearing, although he isn't really that original.

TL/Rx is amazing simply because they right lyrics that actually make a point when other songwriters wish they can right meaningful lyrics. They have just as much political influence as most bands in other genres.

Death Cab should have opened for Ted Leo.

Also I suggest checking out his older band Chisel. The rock too.

i just saw him last Friday at the El Rey in Los Angeles. AMAZING. my goodness, it was one of the best shows i've been to, and i've been to a lot. he can make a huge venue seem intimate, and emotional songs (e.g. Little Dawn) energetic, but urgent and powerful. when he played Stiff Little Fingers "Suspect Device" the floor almost turned into a pit. and Timorous Me during the encore when he's onstage alone...

...yeah it was beautiful . i say if you're even just sort of like Ted Leo, one of his shows would convert you.

I've been kind of neutral about this band but I did see them live at ACL last year and that was an awesome show. They really rocked.

by the way, the show was amazing. teddy broke a string from rocking it so hard and threw it down... right into my face. the crowd was horrible though, most of the kids thought they were at a death cab show and figured they should dance accordingly.

i might get around to putting some of the videos online. and along those lines, some uploaded this.

Ahh. Yesssss.

Hearts of Oak pwns all.

I passed up a chance last November to see them open for Death Cab... and I still can't stop kicking myself for that. Curse my lack of cash flow at that particular moment.
