Dont get me wrong people- i love my metalcore but it just seems as if BTBAM could do a lot better than the noise found on Alaska. The lead singer needs to screw up his vocal chords like M. Shadows of A7X and make some good music. They have the potential to be an amazing band, they just need to stick to melodic guitars like in the intro to Alaska and the same drums, but the singer must find a new style. Alaska was my first and last album of BTBAM, at least until their vocals get more talented. If only they new how famous they would be if they didnt overdub like 10 screaming vocals.... i dont think they know it but noone can hear any instruments non the less lyrics in any of their songs... do you guys agree?

Peace-

^Not all bands play to be as famous as they can be. People should be in the music business because they enjoy it, not to make as much money as they can and be as famous as they can be. Either way, you're a fag and nobody cares about your statement thread, so delete it.

Nope, No one agrees with you. I can understand everything he is saying and I think the vocals complement the music very nicely.

NO. i would never want M. Shadows in any band, much less BTBAM. BTBAMs clean vox are about 10 times better then that fag from A7X. the only point that i would agree with you is that saying they should get more melodic. and use more of their talent in that point rather then the interesting beats, because those get a bit boring at times. i think they need to get a bit more progressive and melodic in the way that Opeth did with their new cd. but still keep their intensity. and keep their stlye in their melodic sections.

I'm not even going to bother. Arguing with such nonsense would be an absolute waste of time.

i wouldnt go that far. theyre very talented but i think they could change things.

No....uh, no.......and NO!!! There isn't really anything wrong with this band as is. Shadows fronting this band would probably be the worst thing EVER! His nasal voice is annoying as hell.

the song Mordecai is one of my favorite songs of all time, and I love Alaska, sure they could do better, and I think they have much more talent than they brought out on Alaska, but Its still amazing.
#13
I agree somewhat wiht the threadstarter I dont think he means he wants M. Shadows to take over as singer he means he'd like more clean vocals.

I also agree that sometimes its all a little too busy and its ahrd to distinguish it all like in the beginning of alaska when the vocals come in it soudns like **** but its chill cuz it smooths out later
#14
also if you listen to selkies: the endless obsession off of Alaska is it just me or do you feel a huge Opeth influence in the clean vox
#15
theyre basically the Opeth of metalcore. as Opeth is to death metal. except like i said they need more parts where they slow down.

Hey Final, I haven't see nyou on these boards in ages.

On a more topical note...

If NoFx had all hardcore vocals, much more distortion and bass, heavy, thick and fast hardcore riffs, then I'd probably love 'em.

That's just me though

PS; Buying a album you considered to be bad isn't the end of the world.

if the band ____ had more ___ and less ____ i'd love them.

you could say any of that for any band in the entire world. fact of the matter is, if you don't like them then go listen to a7x.

i love BTBAM to death, but i was kinda dissapointed with alaska. I mean it was good, dont get me wrong, but I enjoy listening to the selftitled cd better. It seems like the songs flow better. but alaska was technically better.
#19
yeah BTBAM could get a little more melodic but what i really like is the random jazz parts they throw into songs Like "Mordecai" "Ad A Dglgmut" and "Selkies" that was some cool stuff.

Threads like this piss me off.

Wahhh, BTBAM would be so much better if it weren't for the vocals, wahhhh, Opeth is too angry for me.

Stop being a pussy and listen to it, or stop complaining and don't. Nobody cares.

um, yes it is.

BTBAM shouldn't change a damn thing, almost all their songs have groove oriented beats, that do have odd timing patterns but still keep the grind/hardcore mix in there. Its amazing the way they can come up with such songs. Pure talent. And they do not sound anything like Opeth, and should not ever try to. As for the vocals, WHAT THE **** ARE YOU THINKING!!?? Its not the best, i agree, but it goes amazing with the beat of their songs, and his singing voice is awesome too.

I agree, the S/T and TSC are amazing albums, but musically, Alaska set a new bar. I don't know how many of you actually play guitar [seems like very few ] but what they did on Alaska... wow.

BTBAM is the perfect core band. I said it, and I totally stand behind it.

There are FAR too many references and comparasins to Opeth in this thread. There is no band in existence, let along Between the ****ing buried and me, that can be mentioned in the same sentence as Opeth. Thats almost as bad as when people compare Trivium to Metallica. You cant compare ****ty metalcore bands to metal legends.

P.S. did anyone hear, Avenged Sevenfold are the next Iron Maiden.

Dude, you may not like BTBAM, but they're definitely the Opeth of metalcore. You can't listen to Selkies and say they don't share a lot in common. Their first album is decent, but the more I listen to Alaska, the more it sounds like a real metal record.

agreed, i also have been listening to The silent circus too, which sounds very DMish. theyre definately the opeth of metalcore.
#33
^ No, they are not. I own the silent circus. I used to like BTBAM. Listened to them a bit the other day. They may be better than every other hardcore/metalcore band ever, but they don't push the limits as much as Opeth. I used to listen to the Silent Circus on a regular basis. When I listened to it the other day, it was the same. nothing new. When you listen to Opeth, each listen is a totally new experience. You discover something new every time. I'll admit, BTBAM are good, they are progressive, and they try new things, but what they have done with the metalcore genre can't even be compared to what Opeth has done with the death metal genre.
#34
agreed with above completely about opeth being very prog. but BTBAM is so ****ing amazing.

i thought the selftitled was very raw and had some really good ideas in it and it all came together in Silent Circus. and whoever was asking about who actually plays guitar...i do...and i totally agree, Alaska is AMAZING technically on the guitar...the sweeps at the end of selkies are insane!
#35
i think that alaska brought out the very best in the guitar work but the vocals were undermined because of the mixing. if u listen to like robotuner u can barely hear the vocals over anything else its like they didnt want you to hear the vocals. and i think it also has to do with personal opinions and if you dont like how it sounds you shouldnt listen to it.

oh and i didnt hear bout avenged being the new iron maiden, but metal hammer said that MCR were gonna as great as ozzy osbourne

BTBAM is ok. Their drums and guitar are wicked but the songs dont really have a structure at some times. It sounds like its just trown together with a screamer.
#37
who else agrees that BTBAM should do like a dual cd where one is all crazy and hardcore and the other CD is totally chill like in selkies or backwards marathon when he keeps singing "it's raining." I always get really relaxed in those parts and then it gets all rapeyouintheasscore.

All i've been able to listen to for the past 3 days is a playlist on my ITunes called "Epic" which is just every song by Between the Buried and Me and every song by Dead To Fall. Easily the best metalcore i've ever heard, some of the best music i've ever heard.
