They seriously are some of the worst music i've ever heard.

Boy Bands > MSI

If you think about it, Boy Bands really aren't that terrible.

The only thing they're lacking is originality, extremely, but that still puts them up there with Atreyu at the very LOWEST. I mean, they've got a ton of vocal technique, relatively large ranges, if not individually, then collectively. They can stay in key, on time, AND DANCE!

MSI fails to even keep themselves in tune with each other.

These conversations have meandered so godamn far from the topic that if the title of the thread wasnt displayed I honestly think we would all have forgotten what we're even talking about.

Well. BTBAM kicks ass regardless. Not that great live.

PS:I havent listened to MSI in about a year, nor have i been on this site consistently in a year, but now i must keep the avatar for spite.
#89
Ohhhhhhh I had no idea that your avatar was MSI.

I didn't mean to chew you out for liking them.

Sry d00d.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I dont know if we already talked about this or not but aren't BTBAM kinda... boring live? I've seen many-a-video and most of the band is just kind of standing there bobbing their heads. Although Tommy really makes up for it with his moving about the stage, allowing the audience to sing, and throwin' up his relatively cheesy metal claws. I dont know, I'd love to see BTBAM live but I sort of wish they would not focus so much on being dead-on as far as the technical aspect of it.

First of all, I enjoy deathcore for it's complexity and it's the only genre heavy enough for me

Well they play technical-ass stuff. I'd rather they have a tight set than crazy stage presence. But that's just me.

the new BTBAM album, im pretty sure, isnt going to be very good. Their cover of Blackened is terrible, and i can only think it gets worse
i would rather staple my own hands to a train, than pray on knees that judge and blame.
#93
I think it'll be cool in it's own ways.
People who are listening to the album to compare the cover to the originals aren't going to be satisfied at all.
I like that they're taking it in different directions.

im not evewn comparign it to the original, its just not that great, vocals dont fit with the guitars, and then he does some grindcore low growl and it just doesnt work at all.

ireally lkike the band though

Dont get me wrong people- i love my metalcore but it just seems as if BTBAM could do a lot better than the noise found on Alaska. The lead singer needs to screw up his vocal chords like M. Shadows of A7X and make some good music. They have the potential to be an amazing band, they just need to stick to melodic guitars like in the intro to Alaska and the same drums, but the singer must find a new style. Alaska was my first and last album of BTBAM, at least until their vocals get more talented. If only they new how famous they would be if they didnt overdub like 10 screaming vocals.... i dont think they know it but noone can hear any instruments non the less lyrics in any of their songs... do you guys agree?

Peace-
JEWBOI

BTBAM have some of the best vocals that i've heard.
Their singer doesn't need to find a new style.. you need to find a new band!

ps. peeps check out the alaska intro powertab i uploaded!

no...go suck a **** and stop listening to A7X....no one wants to hear your pop wanna-be-metal loving opinion....sorry for the harshness....but A7X makes me THAT angry....(and DEP will win the feud hands down, greg will tear up M. ****tows arse

So I just got Alaska and, uh, I've never heard anything this amazing in my life. It's so insane. They sound like The Red Chord one minute and Queen the next.

BTBAM is the perfect core band. I said it, and I totally stand behind it.

Quoted for truth.

I loved Alaska just as much as I loved Silent Circus. Both albums are superior. They are completely original and that's what I love about them. Including the vocals. A range of different styles are used and, to be honest, I don't want BTBAM to change one bit, because I love what they do and I always have, and always will as long is I love metal.
#100
I wasn't a big fan of Alaska, I prefer the Silent Circus. The Anatomy Of Is also great, well, all their CD's are.

Quick question, you know how Glass Casket and BTBAM share some of the same members? Is it the drummer and Dusty or is it somebody else?

Joeys rasp and growl vocals suck arse. its like ****ty attempt of trying to be somewhat morphing grind with death vocals. and it doesn?t work. his clean vocals are nice though. If you don't believe me listen to the tracks "Roboturner" of alaska and "fire for a dry mouth" + "naked by the computer" of BTBAM st.

btw...who the **** is joey?

Metalcore my ass. Prog metal? Yes. Metalcore? No.
#107
BTBAM need not be compared with a7x...first of all, the vocals in BTBAM fit exactly what they intended, they don't want to sound pretty all the time..if you want pretty music go listen to pop music. as far as his vocals, they uncompareably better then shadows...even on a7x's albums his voice still sounds like crap even through a voice box. and it sounds just a worse live...

and for those who think BTBAM needs to change what they're doing, go play in traffic.
my rig...

They're not prog metal. They are metalcore. Fact. Not in the same vein as Killswitch or AILD obviously, but metalcore nonetheless.

I'm pretty sure they set out to be unclassifiable, which is what they are.
#110
words cannot discrive my hatred for Jewboimalloy, who claims to like metalcore. and also like some ppl commented btbam doesnt care about beeing famous, they play music cause they enjoy it. i think btbam did an amazing job on the silent circus and alaska its like nothing i ever heard before. they do have their own style that fits who they are. and avenged sevenfold did a great job on waking the fallen, but killed it with city of evil. M.Shadows would be the WORSE thing that could happen to btbam.

who else agrees that BTBAM should do like a dual cd where one is all crazy and hardcore and the other CD is totally chill like in selkies or backwards marathon when he keeps singing "it's raining." I always get really relaxed in those parts and then it gets all rapeyouintheasscore.

While that would be pretty sweet, I think the best part about the chill parts is how it DOES mix in and how it changes...that's what PROGRESSIVE music is. It progresses through different parts and changes and ends somewhere different. That what makes bands like BTBAM, Tool, and The Mars Volta (not comparing them by genre or by talent, just listing) different from everyone else.

you obviously have never picked up an instrument in your life!
please go try and play what they are...it's insane...i'm surprised the guitarists aren't sitting down!

I like how they mix their melodic slower stuff in with the heavy stuff. It's like the calm in the storm or whatever that saying is. It makes it stand out more.

Anyways, anyone know what kind of pickups they use? Their just stock ibanez pickups are they?
#114
I'd like to know the p-u's as well. I've looked all over the place for Paul's model and I can't really find an actual fact saying his rig and such. I'd be very interested to see what he has. It's definately not stock p-u's. If you look at them they aren't like normal Ibanez ones. I wouldn't be surprised if they were EMG's.

Does anybody else think that, while excellent, BTBAM are completely unfocused? Too much of Alaska is crazy riffs that never get used more than once. It pollutes the song structure. Still excellent, but I wish they would tone down the craziness a bit.

That's the idea of the heavy part of their music, completely changin riffs, with very little repeating motifs. The quieter parts are usually more structured.
#117
I just read that BTBAM uses EMG 81/85 for pickups. They did on the silent circus anyways.

I saw them on Radio rebellion tour and it was amazing. Only thing that couldve made it better wouldve been Mordecai, but they played Selkies flawlessly, so im happy.

What was their set list? I'm seeing them Saturday and I'm curious as to what they will be playing.

I agree with you. I think it would be interesting to see more structure in the songs. I still enjoy BTBAM nonetheless.
