Ok so I listen to bands along the lines of Owen, Elliott Smith, John Mayer, Paul Michel, Bright Eyes, Dave Matthews, Ghosts And Vodka, Red House Painters, and sometimes Dashboard Confessional etc. when I want to just kick back to some nice acoustic material. But lately Iv been wondering if anybody could give me some new artists (preferably solo artists) that I might be interested in.

So yeah if anyone could list some suggestions Id very much appreiciate it. Thanks.

Yeah Jack Johnson is decent and his tunes are catchy and nice to listen to but I dont think I could listen to him for that long. He's good but I believe he's overrated.

I'm almost Glen Hansard. I have a semi-hollow Tele and a Big Muff... and my guitar teacher sorta looks like him... and I'm Irish...

Fuckin' A. Ryan Adams is great. Some of his stuff is a bit country, though. If you don't like country, stay away from Jacksonville City Nights. But some great albums are Gold (his classic rock tribute album) or Love is Hell (his darker album, but every song is great). Demolition is also good, right between Gold and Love is Hell, with a little touch of country. He's a great and prolific singer/songwriter.

^indeed, although i like heartbreaker the most of his official stuff... cold roses is definitely worth a look too... and whiskeytown are great also.

additionally, i uploaded this a while ago for someone on another message board, its 48 hours (one of his unreleased albums), and its very very good. thats one of the coolest things about ryan; how many awesome albums hes recorded that have never seen the light of day...

Days of the New

When I heard Touch, Peel and Stand I thought I heard the best Acoustic Heavy Metal song - if that makes sense.

I think some of their later stuff is mellower, but the guitar work is still great

Jack Johnson

Yep, born and raised in Hawaii baby. Many people say "Jack is so overrated". Maybe or maybe not, but I must say he definitely did not intend to be very famous. He's pretty laid back, and simply plays his acoustic guitar and surfs. The fact that his music is becoming very popular is a great bonus to a very nice guy that deserves it. Honestly, if he is overrated, don't listen to him...I kind of liked it when no one knew who he was anyway.
