Some people like the deeper sound. Baritone guitars are a tad hard to come by.

You would play power chords as shown:

Note: EADGBE represents B F# B E G# C#

E
B
G
D ---1
A ---1
E ---1

or

E
B
G ---3
D ---3
A ---1
E

Yea. But it will be easily drained out by the kick drum and bass guitar(s).

maybe the deep tuning is a replacement for bass and kick or just for deeper solos.

could also be a soloist.

first off thats drop D down a few steps...not drop B. drop B is BADGBE, which is used on a lot of Tom Morello stuff and quite a bit of Zakk Wylde songs too.

now to your question it's already been answered by Refixer

^Technically it's drop D down 1 1/2 steps...but who wants to say that?
Or C# standard with a drop B...whatever.

Everyone says Drop B, so you might as well.

Most metal bands (real metal...) tune anywhere from D-B standard, drop A, drop A#, A# standard...and so on and so forth. It's just for a different sound.

Hey guys! I just started playing electric guitar should I get a Gabson Lay Pall or a Femdor Startokaster. I like the picks on the gabsons but i like how sweet femdors look. Beforre i get a gabson what company makes them?

Yeah chevelle uses drop B and drop A# most of the time and their music sounds great. I tuned that low and i love the deep tone it gets but if your gonna do that i would recommend getting some thicker gauge strings.

Was it really worth bumping a 2 1/2 year old thread to tell us that?
