In the amp I want to get, you have to buy the foot pedal seperately(40 dollars if im not mistaken). It has two buttons, one for switching channels and the other is to bypass effects. So im wondering, is it easy to build your own foot pedal?

Very easy. Grab a stereo cable and plug it into the footswitch jack, and then jumper all the combos and post whatever happens.

What do you mean by jumper all the combo's?

^Different amps have different switching mechanisms...

So, do this:

Plug a stereo cable into the footswitch jack.

Get a bit of wire, connect these combinations on the side of the cable that isn't plugged in:

Tip to ring
Tip to sleeve
Ring-sleeve

Now, tell me what happened when you did what. For example:
Tip to ring(changed amp channels)
Tip to sleeve(FX loop activated)
Ring-sleeve(nothing changed)

Get it?

A little more help..

You can move the wires around on the switches to get the desired functions.
These go to eleven...

Theres also diode switching, which uses a mono cable. Does the footswitch you can buy have LEDs? What kind of amp do you have?

Alright, so can you please try out what I told you? I think the AD series have tip-ring and tip-sleeve switching.

Ok, I understand what to do. Is there any possibility that I will mess up my amp?

i just tried this out,

if you only wanna do channel switching without the FX bypass, you only need a mono cable and one switch that interrupts/shorts the mono cable. since you can program fx into channels, thats the route im going.

Hmm, after thinking about it. Ya I really only need to be able to switch from channel to channel. Ill make a nice foot pedal.

Same thing happens with any foot-pedal that can input an EXP pedal. Like my PS-3.

If you plug a guitar cable into the EXP jack and take a paperclip and wrap it around the sleeve and touch it on and off of the tip, the pitch will change. I may try to construct my own shotty pedal to emulate this.

Can anyone tell me a practical way to do it? Like I get how it works, but just a way that I can open and close the switch, I don't need the rocking motion of an EXP pedal.

I think you want a SPST switch.

My idea was to buy an input jack. Then the wires that come out of the input jack just connect it to a push button switch. You can get the push button switch at radio shack.

Yeah, just an SPST switch will work for you. Smallbearelec.com sells nicer stomp switches than at radioshack. The rat shack ones are ****.
