I need an overdrive and don't know too much about whats better for what playing style.I play mostly metal, and i heard the Boss Sd-1 is a good deal for the money. I was also thinking maybe the Zakk Wylde overdrive, Tube Screamer or DOD 250...

i plan on using it with a Vox wah maybe a Compression Sustainer (preferably a Boss CS-3)

tube screamer isn't really meant for metal and the DOD just sucks...so I'd definately go with a SD-1, it's a great pedal.

i have distortion already. a DOD Death metal.

Unless you have a tube amp an OD will be kinda pointless/useless

The boss is good for the money. even better once keeley mods it.
the Zakk- very very muddy and noisey
DOD- can get extremely treble-y
Tube Screamer(Maxon or Ibanez)- classic OD pedal.
I traded in my Real Books for Robbins and Cotran Pathology Textbooks

I am upgrading amps soon and might get a Roland Cube 60 or a Randall. I was going to go for a Vox AD30VT, but i don't really think it suits shred or metal very well...the effects were kind of dissapointing on it.

I've heard excellent things about the Zakk Wylde pedal. I've heard it does everything from blues to metal. I've never personally tried it, though.
Feel free to call me Kyle.

Just so you know, I read everything you type in a Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs voice.

I mean in Kyle's case, it is in the best interest of mankind that he impregnate anything that looks at him funny...
