i dont need 2, the guy refused to sell it unless you take it together. also is it really from 1960 or just a remake from some time ago or newer stuff, like 1970, 80, 90, 2000's?

it could anywhere from the 70's to the 90's...but i think most jcm-900s around are 90's models. they are none for a more modern sound vs the jcm-800s.

either way it doesn't matter. any marshall tube amp is gonna be good quality and sound great no matter the year.

eh, i'd say about $1300 - $1500.

jcm's are hit or miss. marshall started making them in the early 90's as a higher gain version of the jcm. but they used a diode, and lot of people dont like that. so then marshall took the diode out and added another gain stage in the pre-amp or something like that.

but yeah $1300-$1500 for the full stack.

JCM's weren't being manufactured in the 60's.

the cabinets are just called 1960.....they aren't from 1960................

on ebay id say $750 for the head and $500 for each cab..............since your buying everything I think $1500 is a fair price (for you)

if I were the seller I'd sell each thing seperately

under a grand is seriously lowballing that guy. $1500 is the average fair price for it being in decent condition. $1300 if it's pretty thrashed.

alot of people prefer the jcm-800 over the 900 but even if you don't end up liking the sound you'll get your money back plus some on ebay. theres always someone who loves the tone on there. for the modern stuff you like it'll do fine, but for the pink floyd solos you may not get the exact tone but i think it'll work out.

You should at least have an idea of how the amp sounds before you spend that much... And I wouldn't buy another cab you don't even need.

Uh.. no? Last time I checked JCM900 heads are about 450-700 on ebay depending on the model. Cabs are 300 bucks a pop. Its only worth about 1000-1500 at the most... If you buy the whole stack at once the guy should probably be giving you a pretty big deal on it, too. Considering you're taking a head and two cabs off of him, not just one cab, or the head, etc. So about a 1000-1200 is what I'd pay for the stack, depending on the condition and if the tubes are new.

well, how much would it cost to replace the tubes, i cant personally see the head and cabs, becuase the guy lives 3 hours away and i cant drive, but i have about 200 pictures from all angles of it and he has sent me a sound clip of when he plugged his guitar in and just played a little riff. so yea, how much would that cost to get new tubes, and theres one cab on ebay for 600 dollars right now and someones bidding on it just so you know.

600 bucks for a used 1960 cab is a bit high. You can usually find them locally for around 300-400.

Tubes will cost you between 70 and 300 depending on the exact version of the amp (because different versions have different numbers of tubes) and which tubes you select (some are expensive as hell)

I don't think www.eurotubes.com sells retube sets for the JCM900, but their sets for the 800 are between 70 and 90 dollars.

do a little research before you attempt to make someone look stupid.

http://search.ebay.com/jcm-900_W0QQfkrZ1QQfromZR8

every head on the list almost starts bidding at $600 and after a few bids thats gonna be upwards of $800 if its in decent shape. almost all the buy it nows are 700-900 bucks. so i'm not saying i'm dead on but you sure weren't right either.

there are several cabs listed too. starting at about 200.

Well, I have researched? I've purchased TWO JCM900s for ex bandmates of mine.. and I bought both for under 550 each.

I hate to make you look stupid, but BIN prices don't reflect the buyer's market. As far as I know.. a 'few' bids. few being, five? isnt going to make a price jump up $200 at that level. Maybe if it was 300 to 500 or 550, or to 600, but definitely not an already average six hundred to eight hundred dollars for a basic marshall JCM head that you can walk down to a pawn shop and buy for less.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Marshall-JCM-900-Model-4100-100-Watt-Head_W0QQitemZ7411508205QQcategoryZ38075QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.com/Marshall-JCM-900-4500-High-Gain-Dual-Reverb-JCM900_W0QQitemZ7412846026QQcategoryZ38075QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It seems to me that they vary depending on year features and tubes. So, the most sought after JCM900 with two channels and reverb and new tubes.. would go for 700. The used, needy single channel channel JCM 900s go for under $500.

Usually buying locally you can get a steal, I don't see why not. If you walk up to the guy with cash generally people can't say no. Why? Because so many buyers flake off.

I'd say that $1500 at the very most for a JCM900 stack is a pretty fair estiamte. In fact, its probably alittle too much.

Some people don't understand how ebay works. Prices on there fluxuate quarterly. One minute your item can be worth $500, then three months later people only want to give $250.. So saying that just because a JCM900 is going to go on ebay for an extremely high price of $900 doesn't mean it will in 8 months from now.

5-10 bids would easily drive up a price $200 on something that starts out at $550-600 like almost all the jcm900's currently listed on ebay. i'm glad you bought some for $400 bucks, you got a great deal (although i much prefer an 800), that doesn't mean thats the going price.

ten bids is a huge difference than five. I'm not seeing a bunch of thousand dollar JCM900s like you're insisting. I've been keeping an eye on marshalls on ebay (and locally) for about a year and a half, they fluxuate between 450 and 800 pretty much all day long.

The most valuable ones are the early (cir. 1990) mint condition, all original ones and they go for about $800

I bought a 1990 all original (EL34's) 4100 with some bumps and bruises about 4-5 years ago for about $700

it depends on the model...your not gonna begin to get a jcm-800 for 450 bucks. an old beat up jcm-900...maybe. and when did i ever insist jcm900's cost 1000 dollars...i just said they've been selling for 800-1000 on ebay which is a fact. i'll admit 1000 was a high number to put...but the 800 is accurate. you can easily go search them...click watch on a few on ebay and see what they go for. i gurentee its for more then 450 dollars.

they're nice. sound much more modern than the 900. i'd say go the 900 if want early 90's tones. the TSL if you want to touch on all the jcm tones, and do some pretty nice modern ones. the guy from hatebreed uses it as his main amp (with a mode four in the mix also), and i quite like his tone. so it can do metal and what not.

yea theres just one on ebay for 1500, but ebay prices arent always true value, so what do u think is a fair price for the head, plus the 2 1960 cabs(4x12) thanks.

edit: on musiciansfriend.com theres the head and just one 1960a cab for Sale Price: $2,134.99, and this comes with another cab too.
