Epiphone is Gibsons lower-end (not low-end, just lower, as in not as good as a Gibson), cheaper guitars. (just as Fender has their Squier series, ESP has LTD etc.)
Basically the difference is lower quality parts, like the wood, finish, pickups and mechanics. The craftmanship also of variable quality.

They might have different pickup models, but I think you're just paying more for the quilt top.

Whoops. yeah, my bad.
Uhm.. not so sure on that.. I'm not very familiar with the gibson/epi series of guitar.
But what I can tell you is that Classic has a little more finesse than the standard one, hence the names. The classic has binding, mahogany body (which is more expensive/excluse and better than alder, which the standard was made of), probably better pickups..
Other than that, I don't know. The specs weren't that detailed on the pages you submitted.
Try checking out epiphones website for more info and comparison.
But, if I were you I would go for the more expensive model, as it's not THAT big difference, and you get what you pay for...

yeah what he said....get on ebay and find an older one. you don't want a newer epi anyway. there quality control was always questionable, its even worse now that they dropped there prices so much.
