I went too my local guitar store to buy new strings, and I saw a candy apple red strat. To my suprise it was only $480 it's marked down the thing is that its priced cheap for a 50's reissue strat, I was thinking its a knockoff, becuase below the fender headstock name it doesnt say where its made it only says Sycronized tremelo system (sp). Is that how it is? And is it worth the money?

Thx

i've heard that in that price range a jimmy vaughn strat is better but these are supposed to be good

They're very nice guitars, although there's probably better Fenders for the price, but the Classic Fenders really look nice.

So I'm probably gonna put the 50's reissue on layaway before someone else buys it. Thats probably the best thing I can get with $420. Im gonna put the custom harness on standyby till my b-day (In Sept.). So you all think it's better to go with the MIM reissue than with the MIM standard? Thanks for your input I really appreciate it.

That's truly a sweet guitar

but compared to a regular MIM 2006 Standard I don't know.. the new 2006 models have a thicker/heavier block, medium-jumbo frets and increased shielding

Damn I called the store today, and they sold it yesterday. So I'm gonna look for a different strat, but I also found out I got hired for a job, so it'll be easier for me to save up.

Hmm, check other stores.

If you get loads of money from the job, you could get something like a USA Strat.

Or I was thinking of saving up and buying a mexi-strat and change the Harness, tuners, nut, saddles, and neck. Depends on what SamAsh has when I go up to San Antonio.

You should have looked on the back of the headstock; that's where the serial number and country of manufacturing is.

Why would anyone spend around $500 for a MIM Stat?

Because the American strats are $1000 and above.

Because it's seriously close to an American.. possibly better than some..
especially since it's a 50s classic

the neck is beautiful too

dude you seem to be not so fond of MIM Strats, did you have a bad experience with one?

I have a feeling the classics are slightly better quality than standard MIMs but it depends on what you like if you're not too into aesthetics (like that neck/cool colors)

v neck, smaller neck radius and vintage frets
vs the new standards which have medium-jumbo frets, c neck, 9.5" or so radius.. also a bigger block and increased shielding
