My first electric guitar was a Metal Master Warlock... yea its time for a new AXE!! I was in love with the limited edition "Midnight" Epiphone LP with EMG's!!! But when it was out I wasn't ready for a new guitar, obviously now I'm regretting it hardcore... I can't find one anywhere!!! But now I'm stuck on the new limited edition Epi LP that comes out in may (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product?sku=519391) Seems pretty sweet except I don't know what to think about the pickups... it doesn't say much about them...? Check it out and let me know what you think? I'm open to any comments and/or suggestions. My main interest is metal!

Also can anyone tell me the difference between and LP standard and an LP custom? ...besides the sick-ass "block" inlays on the customs?

THANKS!!

i dont know about the customs/limited editions, but the epi standard LPs are real newbie guitars and they're only good if your a beginner and you want a nice looking les paul. i cant imagine that one being much better. also epiphone isnt exactly the best choice for metal, depending on the type of metal you like i would recommend jackson or esp. if youre really into the LP shape i know theres lots of LP-shaped esps.

ESP EC-400 is around that price and comes with EMG 81/60 pick ups

FULL OF ****!

My Epis kick ass! I an no damn newb! I have been playing everything from classic rock to hardcore metal on mine for the 4 years I have had them. If you got the extra cash get Gibson. If not Epi will work just as well as the brands ^that guy listed. And it will be a damn sight better than what you are playing now. If you are thinking on the brands the ^ that guy listed go with Jackson before EPS. ESP before Ibanez. Ibanez before Dean. Well theres some he didn't list. Anyway just my opinion!

p.s. I have been playing guitar for 23 years now. A Gibson or to a little lesser extent, an Epi can play any damn style of music you freakin want to play on it. If a guitar is designed for shred thats about all its good for.

p.p.s. I dont like to collor of the finish. But it's your guitar.

^I beg to differ a with lot of what you said, but I'm in no mood for a fight, so here's my suggestions:

LTD EC-400, EC-400AT or EC-500
Agile AL-3000
Ibanez ARC series

I second the Agile AL 3000 if your budget is under $400 US. The Ibanez ARC is a nice recommendation too. If you got plenty of coin, go for the big dog and get an LP Vintage ($900). Dollar to dollar, you get all the guitar in an Agile that you would in an Epi but you save some cash. Epi's are fine guitars, don't get me wrong, but they are a little pricey for what they are.

Good stuff!

My budget is $600 and I want an LP style guitar because the warlock is crazy so I want a 24" scale guitar thats not as bulky. Warlocks are so neck heavy!! I considered the EC-400 but my roomate just bought that same guitar so yea... Also for a while I was stuch on that black cherry LTD deluxe eclipse, those look cool, but I guess I've never seen one in person... anyone have anything to say about those? I'm going with the Epi Custom unless someone changes my mind haha! I think anything in the $600 range would be a substantially better axe than my Metal Master Warlock lol

Thanks DUDES!

Epirocks, you have been PLAYING guitar for 23 years? One question, Why are you still playing Epi's? And the way you talk I highly doubt you are over 20 years old, and if you are, I feel sorry for you.
