MESA DUAL REC.
DO IT NOW
I HAVE IT ITS THE BEST AMPP YUOU COULD LIKE EVER BUY.
its great, tons of gain but tons of claritiy.
#4
^I know...the dual recto is awesome....much better than those peaveys etc...

but..I don't gig a lot...I just play in my bedroom..I don't wanna spend all that money in a amp that i won't use to it's maximum power....It's to expensive to play in a bedroom.....but it's awesome and could be an investiment in the future...waht do you think?
#6
^yeah but anyways...if I played with my band in bars I would brake the windows just with the power of that dual recto...i mean..that's a beast!! it's for pro players that play on stadiums!! I wouldn't never use all the power that amp has to offer....I would be well served with a combo or one of those two amps that I talked about in the begining of this thread...

i'd take the xxx for all out metal. keep in mind though its a bright amp, so itd best suited for thrash

^ok but...emgs sound better in mahogany guitars (I'm going to buy a mahogany schecter hellraiser AND mesa boogie amps...i heard that emgs and mesa boogie are GREAT combinations..Am i going to loose some emg quality with a -2bright" PEAVEY amp???
#9
if your getting emgs i'd just get the mesa. but a dual recto and a thd hot plate would be better.

So emgs are JUST for mesas?? they would suck with that peavey?

as I said before that's a lot of money for an amp..I don't know...I'd like to buy it but I don't know if I will take advantage of everything that amp has to offer(in my bedroom......i don't think so).....

mesa > peavey.

i'd get a mesa dual recto and a thd hotplate if money is no issue, that way you can get cranked tones at bedroom levels and be gig ready.

I really don't know....I'm so scared of buying a dual rectifier and then just use it like I would use a practice amp.....I don't know.....It's a lot of money...And that amp is really good for metal??? I mean metal metal metal.....Dimebag etc.....

One thing is for sure...If I buy a dual recto I'll have an amp for my whole life..that's for sure..I wouldn't have to sell it and buy another....but there are some people on harmony-central that say that they don't like that amp....They say it gets to mddy with distortion (maybe that amp isn't that good).....I don't know...maybe a peavey combo or a mesa f30 would be good...What would you do?
#17
those people are retarded and have no idea how to eq. the person you wanna talk to is ibanez4life. he's got a dual recto. he loves it and so will you.

you are right though, the dual rect you'll have for the rest of your life, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health...
it's an investment really.

yeah...and i know that that amp is great...but I don't know if is the heaviest I can get..mark tremonti uses a triple rectifier.........he doesn't play metal........
#21
bah..I was reading a review about the dual rectifier and that's what i tought...that isn't a bedroom amp....it needs to be cranked up to sound great...it isn't an amp for me.....

I think i'll have to stay for a f30 or f50 or a peavey xxx..I play metal (pantera)...those seem to be the best options in terms of price/quality to play metal
#22
if u play metal. the mesa is for you. solved.

btw yeah i hate fenders too but i love the sound of it (how eric clapton and hendrix pull it off is amazing). But i heard jimi was neva' in tune? LOL

i hate fenders headstocks, they should atleast make it match the damn body. f***!
#23
Thanks for the solution lol..now give me 2000 dolars please.....thanks

yeah i hate fenders but i don't dislike their headstock..i don't dislike their pickups...i don't dislike the body shape...i don't dislike the color....i don't dislike the bridge......i don't dislike the clapton......

See right there. I am a Fender (amp) guy. So I am not the guy to help you with advice. I am not big on Fender guitars either, just not my style. I would recomend a Fender 65 Twin Reverb over either of the brands listed, but you didn't ask that. So to keep it short. mesa > peavey

If you're not after the brighter Peavey tone of the XXX (which you really should try) then see if you can play a 6505.

I think your a bit bias epi but so am I
but try both personnaly when i played the f50 and 30 i thought they were much worse than the recto but i have never been able to try the triple x AKA poor mans rectifier

ANY tube amp wants to be cranked. It doesn't matter which one.
For home/practice ideally you want really low wattage. I have one that's 3
watts and is plenty loud, but I can still turn it up to 10.

If you need something for both home and playing with a band, a 30 watt tube is
a good compromise but you still won't be able to turn it up very much at home.

Don't get me wrong man. I would slap my mother in the mouth for a Dual Rec. But for the basic ampflication end, I love Fender Twins.

Schecter C-1 Hellraiser (Black Cherry)
Peavey 6505 Plus Head: 120W all-tube goodness
Peavey 6505 4x12 Slant Cab

then why post in a thread over 2 "high" gain amps.

f30 has crap loud of gain. IT surpirsed me on how much gain it has. The cleans weren't have bad either.

what?... who cares if a headstock matches the body?...

and who cares if Jimi was in tune or not, he still played better than anyone else did back then...

you want modern metal tones in a pretty lightwieght package for your bedroom to practice but can still practice out with a band get the Peavey XXX 40w, plus it has built in effects so you wont have a cluttered mess on your floor. I can imagine getting around the bedroom with a half stack in it.
#37
Mesa Boogies are not only for metal thats an ignorant statement

the Mesa Boogie Lone Star has the most wonderful clean tone out of any amp I have ever played
#38
Try the Laney GH series. They have a Toni Iommi model that has an INSANE amount of gain and I love the sound of it. Plus, its only about 1500 for a half stack.
Guitars
Agile 3100 CSB
ESP MH400 w/ Trem-Setter
Epi G-310
Applause Acoustic

Amps
1968 Fender Vibrochamp - Great amp, only $100 fixxer-upper
Line 6 Spider II

REMEMBER, ALL TONE IS SUBJECTIVE!

I care that it matches, it looks nicer. Faget

Jimi would still pwn all of us and thats a fact if he was still alive. U trippin' only because i just gave off a personal opinion about fender and something i just found out that jimi was never in tune or barely in tune during is live and some of his albums. But guess what??? Interesting shit.....
