i just got a vox ad50vt, it has a 12ax7 used as a power tube and they claim to be able to saturate (overdrive) the tube to give a tube overdrive sound, i havent been able to get it to have a tube overdrive sound does anyone know how i can make it sound like a tube amp ????

Meh, I usually just buy them off the local shaman, unless I'm in the wilderness, where I rely on raw meat to raise my HP.

the tube is in the pre-amp, and really does nothing. it might as well be solid state.

The valve's in the power amp, but it's a pre-amp valve...

I doubt it'll overdrive like a normal valve amp, I think it just helps maintain the sound at high volumes and not crap-out like most solid states.

^Actually, if you use the attenuator on it's lowest setting (one watt) it's an all-tube poweramp (I think) and it sounds damn good cranked.

Really? Interesting....
Have you got one Danno?

^AD60. (Blue series, a bit different to the silver ones you see every day- it's essentially a Tonelab with a 12" Celestion attached.)
