hey my band have been trying to play soul songs similar to artists like
james brown
otis redding
the commitments
wilson pickett
etc.

and we are lost on the chords.
any help?
Loudly pronounce the color of the each word below:
Green , Red , Blue, Green ,
Red , Green , Green , Blue, Red , Green, Blue .
If you pronounced the last 2 wrong or wanted to... you've been brainwashed...

7ths and 9ths aren't triads...

maj7 - 1 3 5 7
m7 - 1 b3 5 b7
7 - 1 3 5 b7

Stuff like that is found in soul, I believe.
Looking for my India/Django.

for James Brown, use the James Brown chord. If I recall properly, its just a 6 chord (or a m7th when you look at it that way) strung out on the last few strings.
