I have guitar pro... I need a program that will let my draw out box patterns... im trying to figure things out by mixing scales and if i can write out box patterns it would help alot with crossing inbetween different scales and stuff.

i need a program to make box patterns for scales i already have guitar pro... does anyone know how to make them with that program or a decent program that allows you to make them?

microsoft word or notepad should work. just set it to a monospaced font, and do something like this:
   0  1 2 3
e||x||x|-|x|
B||x||x|-|x|
G||x||-|x|-|
D||x||-|x|x|
A||x||-|x|x|
E||x||x|-|x|

like that would be open position of a C major scale (unless i messed something up, im tired so its possible). either way, you get the idea. you can put note names instead of x's or put something like R for the root, 2 for the second degree of the scale, 3 for the third degree, etc. i sometimes make these when looking for ideas when writing in a scale i dont normally use. good tool.
