Hey guys!

Here's another story to add to the schecter I just aquired!

My bassist bought an amazing rig locally for $2500.

The rig also consists of a rack, which has a korg DTR-1000 and and a T.C. Electronics effects processor (M-300) which he is selling to me. I'm getting the two for somewhere around $150-$200.

So, this was going to be the start of my rack!

I walked into guitar center yesterday (my bassist was selling some stuff) and I found a 4 space SKB rack for $70.....I bought it for $60 out the door because it had a bad latch (which I have basically fixed!)

After I buy a furman power conditioner, my rack will consist of the two things my bassist is selling me! I'm pretty excited!

Has anyone had expereince with the TC? I've never tried it before, we're basically getting it for free.

Also, will the korg tuner be ok in the loop? I think it will work well....I'll just get a footswitch to mute it, and it won't suck any tone by being infront!

Thanks for all the help!

The GAS is really getting me lately....after this rack is done, I'm stopping for a while. I need to start saving money again, not spending it.

But the rack should be fun, and basically finish up my rig. Do you guys think it will be ok to run the whole thing in the loop?

yup.

GAS has got me right now too.

Yeah... I've got so much **** to get too... Gotta ditch the avatar cab, get a G-Flex, Mesa or Splawn cab, get a decimator, delay, chorus, phaser, wah, a tremol-no, pickups, get the 5150 retubed, bias modded, the list goes on...
#6
can I have your address so I can come steal *cough* I mean see this beautiful rig.
#7
Make sure you get a a power conditioner that'll protect from surges and spikes.

I've heard that the TC's aren't as organic as the Lexicon's, but they're more versatile. Haven't tried either.

So, your whole band is just a bunch of kids with rich parents who decide to spend their money on something they think is 'cool'. Correct me if i'm wrong, but you just got a mesa. A few weeks later, you decide you need a new guitar. Now you're saying you want a rack setup. To be honest, GAS is bull****. It's something someone made up so they can buy stuff to compensate for their horrible skill. After listening to your so called song clips, i'm a little distraught.
Story time kids:
I played at a local school recently for an arts week show, and i got a chance to talk with some of the guitarists there. 3 of the performers were all in grade 10, and had a pretty decent set-up. 2 rectos, and a guitar for each of them. Nothing fancy, ibanezes that i doubt cross the 1.5k line, and maybe 3 or 4 pedals. No backup guitars either. I was very weary of their gear, hearing they had mesas. To my surprise, they brought it to the stage, and in an outrageous way. They were shredding, innovating licks and riffs, and just blowing away the audience. One of them, one with a recto, proceded to play Far Beyond the Sun. I was absolutely marveled at his ability considering he was so young.

What do you plan to do with a rack setup now? What purpose does it serve, you have a good enough amp as it is. And you're not looking to change certain parts of your setup like some people are, you just keep wanting to buy stuff. It's doesn't bother me that your a rich, spoiled kid who thinks they're great at guitar, it bothers me that you don't see the flaw in your plan. I was already trying to be nice last time with the sound clips, but i'll be frank with you: Learn to play the damn instrument before you decide you need all this gear. Based on your last performance, it doesn't sound like you can get through Flight of the Bumblebee.

Here's an idea, prove me wrong. Blow me, and the rest of UG, away, with something phenomenal. A video, a soundclip, whatever works. Show that you can actually pump some skill through thousands of dollars of gear. Until then, i advise you stop trying to prove that you have money.
Cheers

edit: By the way, i'm not here to reign on your parade. I'm trying to tell you the truth, and steer you from a pathway you're destined to go down. I don't know if anyone else on this board sees my point, maybe they will, maybe they won't. I'll stick to HC for now...

Well, I must say, I do agree. But to an extent. If its his money I think he can do what he wants, hell I'd want good tone too even if I sucked, its just a good feeling to be able to smile in satisfaction when you hear the sound that comes out of your instrument.

Whats your HC moniker btw?

It's his money. Let him do what he wants with it. If he wants a rackmount gear, let him get it. He's just trying to improve his tone, which is every guitarist's goal. So don't go off and bitch at him because he wants to make his rig that much better. Stop being such a royal asshole.

BlinkBlinkBlink, I totally agree with you, but he has a job and works his ass for his gear, so whatever.

If he so desires to spend it on gear all the time, more power to him.

Were I in his position, I would be spending the money on lessons. That's not an insult, that's me saying that I would rather have lessons than a Dual Recto.

I agree with BlinkBlinkBlink, not fully to all the rudeness but by the videos of your "new song" Im not saying they were horrible and you should quit but I mean nothing exceptional, and use that Mesa to its full ability man!

I agree with spending the money on other things. Although it is his money, I think he should improve his skills before he improves his rig. But as I said, it's his money, so he can do whatever he pleases.

We're getting into this again....lol!

It's all good guys. I actually wasn't planning on doing anything rackmounted forever. After the mesa, I was planning to just play without spending anything.

First of all, we are by no means rich kids with rich parents that buy us what we want. Both me and my bassist work very very hard to earn everything we have. Everything spent on my gear is every dollar I earned, all by myself.

Now, my bassist finally upgraded from his little combo, and this stuff basically fell into my lap for free.....by adding $100, I can have a simple rack setup.....tuner and delay (which what the processor basically does, it's nothing like the g-major, etc.).

Blink, you can probably take me at guitar easily. I'm no god. But I love music....when I play, I put everything I have into it. Though I have a lot of other things going on now (taking away from my practice time), I still love music, and it takes all my free time. My band is writing some great music, and I'm learning alot from playing with them.

So, please don't think of me as a spoiled brat with a lot of gear. I'm not, at all. This opportunity fell to me, and if you can get a rack setup for a tiny amount of money, wouldn't you do it too?

Also, did you hear the last clip I posted with my band? Why recorded an entire song with a digital camera (****ty quality, but it gets the point across).....again, nothing huge, but I wrote the entire thing.....bass line and guitar, not drums. Though I'm not a shredder, I can get my way around the guitar fairly well, and I definitely am creative with it. But most of all, I love it!

sorry if i'm retarded but GAS?
wtf?
^ i'm with you though, a rakc set up or nice guitar isn't something you have to earn, if you can afford ith then get it.

ah Blink, leave him alone man. Let those people play all the Malmsteen they want, I bet Ibanez is having tons of fun with the music he makes and plays. There's really 0 reason to come here and try to "wake him up" with a reality check, I'm sure he knows what's going on his life.

I can play Far Beyond The Sun, but I have an Epiphone Special II.

I heard something about bleeding on the FX when using the high gain channels on the Dual?. . . Not sure.

Trust me, I am having tons of fun. Getting better and better by the day, practicing daily.

I have heard about the bleeding too....

Weird thing is, my recto hasn't had any of the other problem other complain about, so maybe I'll get lucky again.

No one here is right or wrong.

blink has an opinion, what ever it is, it's his. I'm a full believer in this.

Ibanez works for his money, so he entilted to use it how ever he finds suitable, somewhat like an opinion.

And also, since when do you have to be good to justify your equipment? If they suck, no amount of tone is going to make them better.
