Get a tube combo. You might want to close this thread before it gets ugly.

Yes, youre going to get flamed to hell.

Please, try playing a tube amp over solid state, and don't ask what those are either, there are plenty of threads for it.

solid state half stacks are just a waste of money.

Avoid the Crate I have one and in my experience it's junk, well the cabinet is anyway, the head's not too awful bad but it lacks headroom. A suggestion: be different and try the B-52.
#10
Of those you listed, the B-52. However you're talking around $1000 there and you can get great tube combos for the same or less, Carvin V3 or legacy comes to mind.
It's a fine line between clever and stupid.

i agree with rock_guitargod. the only way you will be satisfied is if you go out and try different things till you find wat fits you

Yeah but at the end of the day you're still playing a Triple XXX.

Just kidding. You got lucky, though.

well done genocide, well done!

The thing with the XXX is it's voiced pretty much for metal and high gain, not as much versatility as the amps I mentioned. Not that the XXX is bad, just a bit of a one trick pony, and if you like it, sweet.

I know you can get a 60w Ashdown Fallen Angel head for around $500 or so. A tube amp that still leaves cash in pocket for a cab.

great amp.
#18
ya just get a tube amp

because a tube amp is better than a ss amp 99.9 repeating% of the time

which is incidentally, equal to 100 percent of the time

so get a tube amp!
#19
dont always look at watts when you buy an amp, a 30watt tube could be louder than a 100 solid state

^
That might of been the one I bought, it was only $575 CDN .

As far as half stacks go... no, just no. Do it up with a tube combo.
My gear:
'96 Ibanez S540FMTT
'91 Standard Gibson SG [w/ Bare Knuckle Warpigs]
Peavey Triple XXX 112
