Looking for a new amp.

Specifications:
Must be all tube and at least 40 watts of power
Must be a combo amp
Must have Distortion
Would be nice if the distortion wasn't controlled by volume
Good Cleans
Good Distortion ( don't need hi gain metal distortion though )
Want good speakers and tubes
Must be under $900

I play lots of classic rock but also play a lot of modern soft rock such as The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Blue Oyster Cult, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Cream, Daphne Loves Derby, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Led Zeppelin, Pete Townshend, The Who, Yes, Death Cab for Cutie, and a little bit of U2 and Van Halen every once and awhile

Right now I have a Schecter Omen 6 but I will be getting an Agile Les Paul3000 when I buy this amp

Right now I am looking at the Traynor Custom Valve 80 YCV80 80W All Tube 2x12 Combo Amp with Celestion Speakers it looks great but can anyone find a picture of the control panel and the back? Thanks

EDIT: also what are the things that give higher distortion at lower volumes? accentuators? i cant think of the name right now

Also a Traynor YCV40Blue would probably be better (since it has EL-34's)

Attuenators. They drive the tubes so you can play with breakup with low volumes. That would be a good amp for one since 80 watts is friggin loud. And I dont have pics, but I can tell you that I have fallen in love with the versatility of Traynor. But there just not versatile, they do great cleans, Marshally crunch, and with an OD pedal metal. And they do it very well. And I dont even own one.

Edit: And great taste in music
Love in technicolour, sprayed out on walls
Well I've been pounding at the pavement
'Til there's nothing at all
I got my cloak and dagger

hmmm how often do i have to change tubes? every year or so? maybe it would make more sense to buy an amp regardless of tubes and just switch them if i don't like them

EDIT: im also leaning towards the Valve 80 YCV80 because it has REALLY nice celestion speakers

^Well The Blue will be lodu enugh (i played at a school show last week, in a a big auditoruim and wasnt miked and had no problems being heard). It will be easier to crnak by itself. It has EL-34's as stock and woudl fit you perfectly.

If you were looking at Attuenators anyway, I'd get the 80 (2x12) and change out the tubes whenever you feel like it. I prefer a couple of speakers just because in gigs, if your not miced, it'll push more air and spread out the sound more. But its up to you.

Edit: Coldsteel, I've played one, and it was just as loud as my Peavey Classic 50. You must have tried one with bad tubes.

Edit: Sorry just read your last post, then the blue would be fine for you. It's a very nice amp. And I think it will suit your styles nicely as Gabel said.

whats the difference between the YCV50 Blue and the Valve 80 YCV80 other than the tubes that can be replaced?

The 50 has one 12 inch celestion vintage 30. The 80 has two 12 inch speakers, not sure what kind. The 50 is 50 watts and the 80 is 80 watts. there is one more power tube in the 80. go to musiciansfriend and look at the description.

The 50 watt blue has very little head room. It starts clipping a bit too early

Get the Traynor Blue, Beautiful for that style of music... I love the one Im getting (I got to the guitar store every single day to play it haha), Some of the best cleans I've ever heard, crunch on it's own is ok, but I prefer just pushing the clean channel for it, and the boost is AMAZING, very, very, very versatile.. GET IT, NOW!!

The entire company kicks ass, Yorkville, thier cables are cheap and amazing, their amps (Traynor) are really cheap and yet high quality, and.. yeah...

*takes breath*

The point is.. get it, man, You will love it *considers working for advertising at Traynor..*

Well teh YCV80 has 70/80 Celestions (never heard of) while teh YCV50 has a Vintage 30. But you can always chabge teh speakers and tubes.

I just read that Celestion 70/80 is an economic speaker.
