Yes, but if Bob Dylan were from Holland, he'd be an asshole.

measure the guitat thickness. measure the screw thickness.

wheneven u screw into a guitar u dig thru wood. u dont want to go in too deep or poke thru into a cavity. that just weakens the guitar.

^ Sounds like you need a shim in the neck.

If your guitar is a bolt-on, take off the neck and put in paper with the thickness of business card paper, until desired height (don't stick too much in there as it kills your sustain).

But use that only as a LAST resort.

Have you checked your neck bow yet?

u need to check ur neck bow.
fret the low E first fret, at the same time.
fret the low E at the 17th fret, where the neck meets the body.

while both are held. u look at the 7-8th fret.

if the string lays on the fretwire there then u dont have enough gap.
if its more than a credit cards thickness up from the wire there, then u have too much gap.

measure and repost.

ur action is too low and or ur neck is bowed backwards.

in other words, its so straight the headstock is bent back behind the neck.

so what do u want to do?
play wt the bridge , and the action,
change to a thicker string,
or bend the necka little

action is ur string height.

ur bridge is already level. so dont screw wt the springs. (didnt u say it was level?)
or strumming hand is near the bridge.
