I am going to be upgrading my gear this summer (i have a peavey bandit 112) and i was curious about these amps:

Vox AC15CC1 Link ----> http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/AC15CC1CustomClassic1x12TubeAmp?sku=482625
or

Traynor YCV20WR link -----> http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/CustomValve20WRYCV20WR15WClassA1x12ComboAmpwithCelestionSpeaker?sku=480980
or

Peavey XXX 40W link ----> http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/TripleXXXSuper4040W1x12GuitarCombo?sku=481393

With these amps i would like to get a nice clean sound to a distortion sound (with a pedal) And my budget for an amp is around $600 USD or you could recommend me something else, but nothing over 40w all tube.

Thanks in advance and have a nice day

Yea probably the vox. If youre using a distortion pedal for distortion you probably dont need the XXX, and the traynor is a good amp from what i've heard but i get a better feeling the vox would be better for what you want.

i was leaning that way too

EDIT: what would you recommend for a good distortion pedal. i was looking at the DigiTech DF-7 Distortion Factory( this one) http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/DF7DistortionFactoryModelingPedal?sku=150838

thanks

Thats a TERRIBLE idea.

first off, that pedal sucks. second, it would be dumb to use a distortion pedal with an AC.

what your looking for is an overdrive pedal.

look into the ibanez ts-808/ts-9, or a boss sd-1

dont buy an amp, amps are just stupid.

oiled... i like the feel of oiled wood in my hands... wow, that was homosexual...

there is a some difference. they have different chips in em, making the tone semi different. i think the ts-808 is considered the better of the two, but it is more expensive.

eh, what genre's do you want to play?

scrap the idea of a pedal.

if you want to play metal/hard rock. go with the peavey. i own one and it's awesome. i love it.

if you want to play classic rock/hard rock, go with the traynor, and a maxon OD9.

if you just want a clean tone, and some nice overdrive tones, go with the vox and a maxon OD9.

maxon made the original tube screamers for ibanez. the ibanez reissues are squat compared to the vintage ones. maxon still makes 'um like they used too.

From your list I recommend the Vox amp or the Traynor with some new tubes. There are quite a few good distortion/overdrive/boost pedals out there these days, depending on what sound you're after. I like the old RAT pedals.

you cant say that without knowing his styles first
Tone is all ...... well probably 75%, in your fingers.
The rest depends on your wallet's thickness !!

Keep the faith, baby!!

^Then id say either Traynor or Peavey XXX. Derek said that you cna get some nice crunch sounds out of an XXX (i think).

The Traynor and Od-9 is supposed to work great for metal.

^ Na, the only way the XXX does crunch is an OD over the clean channel. it's crunch channel is pretty much worthless. but it's got a great clean (imo), and i love the ultra channel. but put an OD9 or something similar over the clean and you can get crunch. (maybe a blues driver if that's not enough for ya)
