Yeah. I am probably going to re-do my strat in the near future. At the moment, it is a cream color and lacks enthusiasm. So i was thinking stain it and get all gold hardware, as well as a pearloid pickguard. So yeah. I was talking to my guitar teacher about it and he said to be careful about stains, as they can ruin the tone and resonation of my guitar. What kind of stain would help or keep the tone and stuff the same? Thanks for any help.

The stain won't have any effect on the tone whatsoever. Sometimes the finish over a stain can have a small effect--like if you have layers and layers of polyurethane--but the stain just sinks into the wood and doesn't make any difference.
