OMG I think we must be the only Dire Straits cast aways... don't you think they are the most underrated band there is?

Dire Straits has 3 threads of it's very own floating around, the majority of the having plenty of responses.

do some Cream songs: White Room, Strange Brew, Tales of Brave Ulysses, Sunshine of your Love, Swlabr, Sweet Wine

that kind of stuff.

^^hehe, my band just decided to open with Tales of Brave Ulysses for a carnival in June. We're also doing Come Together, Jumpin' Jack Flash (with an extended jam ), Happiest Days/ABITW Pt. 2, among others.

Unpopular ones. Most people play the same mainstream stuff, play songs by forgotten bands from the sixties that most have never heard. Some Yardbirds blues songs would be good, such as "Train Kept a' Rollin," "I'm a Man" or one of Jeff's instrumental jams, like Jeff's Blues" or "Steeled Blues." And, of course, the standards, "House of the Rising Sun," "Knockin' on Heaven's Door," "Summertime Blues" and so on. Don't do The Animals' version of "House of the Rising Sun," we've all heard it.

Bands and artists that would be good to cover would be: The Velvet Underground, J.J. Cale, Canned Heat, Bo Diddly and The Small Faces.

True, but the original sucked and Aerosmith's ain't that great either. It may take the godly combination of Jeff Beck and Keith Relf to pull it off. Just the same if you got a good harp player and an amazing guitarist in your band, it'd be an awesome song to cover.

^^well, I disagree with part of that...the Aerosmith part . I love their cover of it.

I would love to cover anything off Jeff Beck's "Beck Ola" (which is, I think, a cover cd).

Almost anything off of Ziggy Stardust, I would enjoy "Moonage Daydream."

There's quite a lot, I just think these two cd's both have a lot of material I would enjoy doing. Someday I hope to play Ziggy Stardust in its entirety with a band.
