I'm learning the song Pride and Joy by SRV, and I am having trouble with picking the scratch chords. Throughout the song there are scratch chords between the melody and I can't seem to get them on time. Does anyone have any hints/tricks to this? I know its gonna take some practice, but I just wanted to see if there was an easier way to do it that I was missing.

It's tricky business learning that... as simple of a riff as it is, it is tough to get down. The sheet music doesn't QUITE represent what's happening in reality. It indicates a shuffle beat, which it most definitely is, but it says the upstrokes are sooner than they are. It's a quick motion... if you play EXACTLY as it says, you'll be ahead a little bit on each upstroke. Watch evansut7's video, and watch it again. Learn SRV is all about watching him.

Oh, and by the way, those upward strokes are NOT mutes. He's just playing one of the following two...
