I play mostly blues and classic rock and some harder stuff (AC/DC, Deep purple) Could you recommend a good valve combo that would suit small gigs and PLENTY of jamming with loud drummer.

would the DSL401 do classic rock and blues good? Is there any other model better suited for those purposes?

^Doesn't he use Jubilees?

Look for a 2 channel JCM800 combo, or maybe a used JTM45/Bluesbreaker, they're not that expensive over here in the UK.

try JCM900, the one which slash uses

slash has never used a 900 live, or for any recordings.

for the recording of appitite, slash used a jcm 800 vibrato modle what had been modded by the studio owner. vibrato dissabled, and and extra gain stage added.

the studio owner wouldn't sell it to him so he stoll it. one of the roddies accidentaly took it back to the studio. it's whereabouts today are unknown.

from then, slash started using jubilee's. then they went out of production and marshall made slash a sig amp. which was basically a jubilee with a few changes.

now he uses his sig amps and jcm 800's.

THe vibrato amp you're talking about is a master volume 2203, but its not an 800.

tone wise the DSL 2000 is the closest thing to slash's 2555, an 800 doesnt have the high mids nor the gain to sound like slash completely at a reasonable volume.

Also its not like you can easily pick up a used 800 off the street for whatever price. And the reissues are atleast double the price of a DSL.

they started making JMP 2203's in 1975. Early JCM800's are identical to these, but there are JMP 2203's and JCM800 2203's.

IMO attenuator's aren't nesseccary, I never use one. Tube amps still sound good even when not cranked. JCM800's come in 50w and 100w head's and combo's
