Hey, we are SpitFire, a young 5 piece rock band from Derbyshire, UK. I put up one of our songs in the original recordings section, some of you may have heard it.

Anyhow, here is that song, plus another 3 originals.

Oh yeah, the band:

Edd Ingham - vocals (please bear in mind that when these songs were recorded, he had a cold)
Matt Mason (me) - Guitar (I take most lead parts)
Alex Rennie - Guitar
Alex Botting - bass
Jason "Bond" Smith - drums

and the whole "Britain's Finest" thing is just a gimmick to go along with SpitFire. We're not that cocky...

Check us out, read our info, feedback and what you think of us:

I know it's a long shot, but if anyone really likes us, please paste this banner into your MySpace account! We need all the publicity we can get, and we'd be trully gratefull if you did:

im listening to "to soon" so far sounds pretty darn good. I dont really like the vocals though, there not bad but not exactly my cup of tea although they are growing on me as the song goes on. I like the chorus, the vox shine in the chorus....so i take the vox thing back. good tuff guys

ok "too soon" has started, i really like the harmonised riff, erm verse vocals...........something to be desired, sorry man, the chorus has got a really nice warm feeling to it for some reason, lol i cant get over that harmony i really like it but i really like it, to me it could use a solo after the breakdown, but im just into all that, sorry i havent got time to listen to any others (revision)

i listened to the fuse... 1st impression was the intro was a bit dodge, but its good. not really my thing, but couldnt say its bad :p

Yeah, like I said earlier, our singer had a cold and was really struggling with the vocals. Yeah the harmony is awesome, you should hear us perform the three part live

And we were gonna stick a solo in the final chorus, but time get the better of us and it was low down in the priority list

Dodgey, in what way? I'm not entirely sure Rennie is entirely happy with his intro, but then i can't speak for him. Thanks for giving us a listen

hi there matt, i finally managed to get to your songs i definitely like your stuff, u guys sound real good. imo the only thing that needs some work is the timin, cos smtimes it looks like the drummer and the guitarists don't keep the same pace. (i have a couple of friends who're in a band and they do that all the time, even though they're awsome musicians.. i'm aware of how hard it is to keep the timin perfect ) dunno, it's not smth u constantly do anyways, but at some points, especially around riffs and stuff, u (the guitarists) do tend to speed up a little. i must say, though, that this is really bein picky, cos it's nothin obvious unless u're listenin veeery hard. apart from that, your songs r pretty flawless

btw, edd certainly can sing, he's made it clear in these songs. i know he had a cold when u recorded them and all, and his voice seems kinda tired at some places, but still he's done a great job here, especially when the vocals r faster. obviously, the rest of u guys r quite amazin musicians too (and singers, the backin vocals r pretty good), i'm only pointin this out cos i'm more into singin than playin

anyhow, great job. if u add any more stuff to your myspace or whatever, feel free to pm me, i'll be very glad to check it out.

so who do i have to kill to get a crit? --> Memory

Hey thanks a lot for listening. Yeah, some riffs are a little rushed, especially the main one in Too Soon - I accept responsibility for that.

We'll be doing some more recordings this summer, some new songs, and some re-recordings of these. I'll keep you posted

I like you guys, you're good. Do you play guitar in Fury?

What do you think to the solo in The Fuse!?

We're having a bit of trouble "labelling" our band... The only genre I can really label us as is "rock"... What do you guys think?

Hey, thanks a lot man. Yeah, our singer is actually really good, but at the time of recording he had a cold which basically ruined his voice. He still did a really good job considering. We're hoping to record new songs this summer (possibly re-record the vocal tracks for current songs) so that should really show off our sound

Thanks for all the comments

Wow I really enjoyed your stuff, it was really good! my faivorite was "When Angels Cry".
The only thing I didn't like is the band name...

Thanks a lot haha, yeah, well we deliberated with the band name for a very long time, and eventually got fed up with trying to think one up. This name had been playin on our mids, and we decided to stick with it... Although we know other bands are called spitfire, and its hardly original we decided to stick with it anyway due to sheer frustration
#23
There is already a pretty well known band in the US called Spitfire. It has a member from Norma Jean in it. MY friends went and saw them a while back.
#24

We do, but its not like we use it at all. Its www.myspace.com/lowlifesuk. Excuse the atrocious recording. We also have a new bassist and with the new singer we've taken a new direction and are a lot heavier and somewhat faster.

We're spread out around Derby's closer wards - two from mackworth, two from norminton, one from oakwood and one from sinfin. We all go to Landau Forte College in the City Centre.

Still I think you should considering of changing it, leave the fact that there is some band with the same name, Spitfire just doesn't fit to your style of playing.
The name can be really important sometimes, think about it...
peace.

Awesome... have you done many live gigs? Any in Derby, i.e. The Vic or First Floor club?
#28
Well, if you hadn't I wouldn't have seen this. Sounds really awesome! The twin guitars are really good and the drums and bass are well solid. Generally, just really well written songs. All your stuff is really professional too. How long have you been a band for?
#29
^ thanks

Yeah, I'm really glad with the overall outcome of the recording process we went through, we basically did it at our drummers house, with a friend who has studying audio engineering for a good four years.

We've been together a year now (about 8 months at the time of recoring though) and we've written a lot of new stuff that we're eager to record. In my opinion, the new stuff is better than the recorded stuff, because we've developed more as song writers. Unfortunatly, we've been unable to record them because a couple of us have left for uni. So we plan on doing a live recording at our next gig.
#30
Cool. I look forward to hearing stuff.

If you think you've got problems with uni, our vocalist just started a PhD. God knows when we'll have time to do anything now. I'm sure we'll figure something out though (always do).

Good luck

You're actually not the first person to hear G'N'R in our songs... Were you talking about 'When Angels Cry', by any chance? Because as lead guitarist, my solo in that did take influence from Slash somewhat (not overly, but definitly influenced)
#33
I love you guys. Everything is very tight. I really like the singer; he is talented and sounds relatively unique, I think. Overall this is just a very polished, good band.

And I do get some GnR vibes from your stuff.

Thanks a lot man

We have loads of new songs on the go, just not had a decent chance to get them down with the whole band or recorded.

Has anyone else been in a band that stayed together while other members went off to uni or something?
#35
Spitfire is already a band. Christian Hardcore i think...
Get baked, study theory.

Why are you bringing Cm into this?

The Fuse intro basically is Hearts on Fire expect faster and non heavy but its good tho lol.

Take Iron Maiden and Hammerfall and fuse them together. Keep the quality, and you get SpitFire. Nice one guys although the singer could be a bit deeper. The maiden thing kinda gets annoying. But overall its great.
#40
^ thanks for giving us a listen

Hmmm... Sometimes I think some of our songs could suit a different style of singer, but he's got a great voice for others (Such as the Fuse) and covers (especially Maiden covers )
