Warwicks are pretty good, I would recomend a corvette, its got a a deep tone and growl. Its not for everyone but I like them. to get in that pric range try ebay, cause there ussually around $1000.

^BTB's are also a very good choice

Well it isnt hard to bend a string that has the tension of a piece of well cooked spaghetti, especially when you have hands like goalkeeper gloves

BC Rich, Washdurn, ESP, Ibanez, some Fenders

No, not BC rich, they are terrible guitars/basses with just a fancy look, try some ibanez or fenders.

I'd look for a Jackson or Ibanez.

Personally, i can't stand Fender basses.

( you wanted specifics... hmmm.. my main bass is no longer in production, in the early 80's it cost me over a grand ( with tax, etc. ), but you can find them used now for about 400, and are EASILY worth that if they are in good condition.

The Charvel/Jackson 3B is a NECK-THRU ( no bolt-on lameness here ) which gives nice sustain, Active EQ P/J pickup configuration ( you can get any damn sound you ever thought of ).

It was made to rock, and it looks the part.

I have a lot of respect for Ibanez also, they are well known for good tone, fast necks, and quality workmanship. I don't own an Ibanez Bass, but i have a 6-string that is one of thier "low price range" models... and it plays like a dream.

You might also want to consider a Peavey Millenium ( 4 OR 5 string ).

Cheap price, solid, good sound, decent looks.

as Bumper said, please do not triple post. Because all of these were solid and worthwhile posts, I will not warn. But honestly, its in the rules which SHOULD be read; and its not a hard thing to figure out. next to the quote button, bottom right hand side of any post or reply. "Edit". Click it next time. Please and thank you.
