I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to finger this chord...
I tried bending my thumb over to hold down the low E string but I find it hard
to keep my other fingers in its place.....if anyone can give any tips on how to
form this chord it'd be appreciated

E--------0---
B--------1---
G--------2---
D--------3---
A--------3---
E--------1---

Thanx

Barre the first fret, with 2nd finger on G-2 and third (and fourth, if you wish) on D-3 and A-3.

Just my thoughts.

e-open
b-index
g-middle
d-pinky
a-ring
e-thumb

thats how id do it but if i had a choice id just play an F chord...screw that open. besides, i hate using my thumb.

use ur thumb, i love making chords that way, so does the chili peppers guitarist...you have 5 fingers, you should use them all!

that's an F barre chord, and penumbral or whoever pretty much told you what you need to do.

Penumbral is right. Actually, you'd be better off leaving off the low e string than just straight barring it, because the open high e gives you the major 7 tonality. Fmaj7 is a gorgeous chord. But yeah, do it like Penumbral said or just mute the low e.
