Ok, basically if you want to divide between both series, you arent doing enough. The RG series is divided to 3 parts actually, the RGT-Prestige, RGA-Prestige and the RG-Prestige. The most noticable difference between that and the S-Prestige is the neck. The S-Prestige uses Wizard II Prestige neck, which is 1mm thicker and it also has 22 frets instead of 24.
RGA/RG-Prestige Neck, 3pc. Maple

RG-Prestige Neck and neck Bolt

The tremolo, Edge Pro vs. ZR, its preference but both are very reliable trem.
Ibanez ZR Bridge

Ibanez Edge Pro Bridge

Ibanez Gibraltar Plus Bridge

There is no actual way of saying which guitar is the best IMO, they all have specification that suits the needs of guitarists. For example, the RGA-Prestige have fixed bridge that provides better tunings stability and increased sustain since its made out of mahogany and no Edges installed-
RGA-Prestige Arched Body

The RGT on the other hand is a neck-thru, very good sustain and it also has the Edge Pro installed on them -
RGT-Prestige Contoured Body

And the RG-Prestiges, what can i say about it, some has built in Roland FX (RG1820) and overall, its almost the same and there's a 7-string model (RG1527).

All in all, its down to preference, personally i'd get the RG1527.

EDIT : didnt know that there's a poll there ... ...anyways, ill just leave this thing here, for general knowledge...

It's really all preference at this point. In the prestige series, there is no guitar that is technically better than the others.

Each one is great, and will suit a player differently. Set neck and no trem? The SZ is awesome! Trem with a faster neck? RG or S, both amazing.

All you have to do it play them and see which you like.

Basically what everyone else would say. Personal preference.

i was wondering, whats the difference with RGA and RG series necks? as i see the pic its totally the same thing...? Or is there some kind of special 5pc wood in it?

Both same , 3pc. Prestige maple neck. Only that RGA-Prestige has an Arched Top. I'll edit that to prevent confusion.

oh ya since you said arched top? does it do anything either tho? I like it on J-custom ibanezes that wood binding. I was wondering if binding does anything on the guitar instead of the looks?

Isnt neck binding good for the strings not to go slip out (like the e-string *eek*) ??

I prefer the Ibanez SA prestige for a nice thin guitar body, it has a trem and it has a set neck. It has the same pickups as the S and its fixed bridge which = more sustain. The SZ series is also great

RGs = Not the ultimate metal guitar, they're made of basswood and are generally better for shred. I still crave one sometimes though.

RGA-Prestige Arched Top

That's one big slap of maple on top, that is!

Low end RG < Lower End S(There arent NEARLY as many)

Higher End/Prestige RG >= Prestige S

Its all preference tho. I like my S540 more than most of the other Ibanezes I have played, but some may disagree.

Ive owned both an RG 570 and a newer S1520 Bubinga top, which I wont get rid of. Heres my take they both have the thin necks the older RG was a Wizard and my present S has the Prestige Wizard, any differance? Im not sure both are thin as hell but I dont have the RG anymore to compare.

Sound: Stock vs. stock the S blows away the RG I had, I prefer the mahogany body to the basswood and the thin S body is so comfy, it sounds darker and the high notes sing with a rounder tone and dont get skreechy, these are the stock QM1 and QM2 pups. I put EMG 81/SA/89 into the RG570 I used to have and it was too bright, but my mistake for putting EMG81 into a basswood Floyd Rose guitar. 2 things I dont like about the RG are the middle single coil never got used by me and it just got in the way of my picking and 2, Id rather have the neck pup further forward for a deeper tone instead of the 24 frets, imo.

Ive never tried a RG with Prestige Wizard neck thru so cant comment but I bet its sweet. Dont bother with a Wizard2 neck they are about the same as an ESP/LTDor Schecter in size.
#13
also the newer rounded bolt on neck joints without metal plates are about as comfy as a neck thru on my S anyways.
#14
so what's better........the ZR tremolo on the S series, or the Edge Pro on the RG's based on tremolo bridges.........?????

Both have different feel there're differences between both. The Edge Pro has lower action i think, and if you're using the ZR trem, you dont need screwdriver to adjust the claw's screw, you just simply adjust it by hand. The tremolo arm in both system is also different, the Edge Pro has pop-in arm, the ZR has screwed arm, similar to an OFR.

The ZR also has a Ibanez Backstopper ZR system, which is different from 1987 made backstopper (which they put in RGs) but the functionality is basically the same, more tuning stability and if a string breaks, others wont lose tunings. I dont think the RG have a built in Ibanez Backstopper coz its discontinued and only certain models have em. Vai's evo is installed with one so you can check there too.

Ibanez Backstopper System - ZR

Ibanez Backstopper System - 1987-1995?

Then again, it is alll preference, you gotta try em both to really like one. I'd personally get an Edge Pro coz just looking at all that springs inside the ZR, creeps me out.... It only spells trouble and im just a simple guy and i dont mind using a screwdriver.
