Aright I have 5150 II, and it just doesnt sound too incredible when Im rippin solos...Does this call for a Overdrive pedal?

How old is the amp? It should sound great for solos. I guess if you arent liking the sol sound, you should turn the gain down lower and add an Overdrive pedal to boost it. I wouldnt boost it with full gain, because that will just make the distortion from the amp even harder.

Hmm, well what if im in the middle of playin a song and then I want to go into a solo? I cant just go and turn the gain down...So, what would be a good solution?

and the amp was bought in 2004.
