What about each week or month we have a 'What I did for my punk scene' account.

Everyone gets one post and each week or everytime you do something for your scene you edit your post and add the date and your accomplishment.

Just an idea to show that punk is still happening!

Anyway, I made a few punk mixes to hand out to people ignorant of the genre. There's no punk scene here, but I'd like to kickstart it.

Seriously guys, I was on the phone last night with Dick Dale (he was in Boston, I am in Florida) and I told him not to hit on my girlfriend.

I supported a punk rock relationship.

this weekend I paid for about 10 kids to get into a show, it was only 2 bucks a head, but it was still a decent amount of cash.

I started looking for a squat to house shows in, and I'm recording CD's that I plan to sell for minimal money or give out.

Like Whyvern, I'm in the Studio.

It's music for people with short attention spans, naturally, so it's busy, fast and dissonant, just the way rock and roll should be.

I'm also negotiating to put a band together, which should begin in around July.

I don't know if this really counts, but I'm in my city's Rocky Horror shadowcast, and we had a couple shows this weekend.

Random acts of violence based on music preference are pretty sweet...?

haha, well there was good reasoning behind my "senceless act of violence". i was twice his height and i had every right to in the circumstances. all my friends hated him and by spitting in his face i put him in his place and thats is "what i did for my punk scene".

....and they say rap is cooler than i will ever be. ha.

Woah, woah, woah - did you just say that you had the right to spit in someone's face because you're twice their size? I can't say I follow that logic.

In other news, today some poser and his bastard friends held me down and spit in my face because I had an Ice-T shirt on, they proclaimed something like, RAP WILL NEVER BE BETTER THAN ME, LONG LIVE PUNK!

Its ok though, because I found out where he lives, and I sent the All American Rejects to play outside his door for 2 weeks straight. Bwhahahahahahahaha.

I love you.

Organizing a gig for next month, benefit for west memphis 3.

I had to organize a band in a hurry, so I haven't even met the singer or bassist (we're going to jam on the weekend though), I have a 30 minute set and about ten 1 - 2 minute songs. And a few that go for 30 seconds. And we have 20 days to get all this done.

I'm inviting all the jock kids that think punk is those dumb-sh*t kids who have long hair combed over, and we're going to get them up the front then start a circle pit around them.

I'm in a good mood, cause I just got back from Denmark Street. I tried out a Gretsch Pro Jet, and before I even sat down to play, some 12 year old kid in a foo fighters hoodie said to his friend "I bet he's **** at guitar".

Being one to not take that kind of comment, I called to them "Well check this out son!" They came over, and I immediately ripped into the solo from pull my strings (while I've set the amp up to play some marginally crunchy fuzz). Then I looked up, and the kids were gone, which was a shame, cause I could have said something really sarcastic and biting like "Hey you ****, who do you bet is **** at guitar now."

In the meantime, the shopkeeper comes up to me as I make a start on my jazz chords, and tells me that those kids walked out embarrased not knowing where to look, and asks me to not solo anymore because it annoys the hell out of the staff. I told him "No sir, that's my party piece" and demonstrate to him a 5 second clip of my regular lead guitar playing.

He winces, and blatantly doesn't like it very much because he asks me impatiently whether I wan't to buy it or not. I say "I can't afford it right now, but thanks anyway." I think he's irritated because I really whack the strings, and softcore rock musicians who play by the rules don't like that, because they treat the guitar like a model rather than a toy.

I walked out of the shop, and into the one that sells Pure Tone Accessories.

I buy two sets of pure tone strings, a lead, and a cheap and cheerful book about how to play Chuck Berry Licks. Which means that I can buy a cup of coffee tomorrow morning, and then I'll be broke until the afternoon when I get paid.

Y'know... I don't ever do much for my scene.
It's probably cause my parents don't really like "the bad parts of town" too much, and it's probably cause most of the bands really suck, and that's cause I don't really think I want to be bothered with having a band - at this point. I keep thinking that "I'll just do it next summer" when it comes to being "into my scene" but I never do it.
(I know, I'm a monster of a person. I'm horrible.)

Anyway...
I support other people's scenes way more than my own.
I buy a lot of CD's from local bands in other parts of the country.
I'm really into the better half of the stuff that the New England area puts out.
And the "southern" kinda punk rock coming out is really good(exciting).
Circle that A, motherfucker!

I'm with Warm-And-Fuzzy on this.
My scene blows and I only support the record stores.

No way! whens the exact date your gonna be down there?

Im going on a mission down there to help with the Katrina clean up at the end of June and Im pretty sure we're gonna be in that same town.

Anyways to stay on topic......

Most of my friends listen to emo and pop rock, so I burned them all cds full of ska and punk songs and they really like them. So basically Ive converted about 5 people from crappy music to punk.

Also... theres gonna be a big ska concert in a few weeks, and I bought a bunch of tickets for everyone and sold them at a reduced price. A lot of the people I sold them to dont even listen to ska, so they might start to listen to it a lot after the concert.

I don't really know the exact date. But Sometime in June or July.

We got the idea from my moms church. Theyre going on a mission trip there like in a couple weeks. So we're gonna do the same, cept without the jesus mumbo jumbo.

Where exactly is Muskegon? Because you actually might be going on the same trip as her church seeing as I live in Ohio.

Muskegon is on the west coast of Michigan on Lake Michigan.

Its about 45 miles minutes away from Grand Rapids and 3 hours away from Detroit.

I'm going with a church group too... even though Im not religious at all. I just think itd look good on a college application and I guess I feel like Im actually doing something to help out the world.

Matt that sounds like a great trip, fun but mentally tiring.

Nemo all you can do is sit around or move state.

Brian, I wasn't kidding

vlp dope that does help the scene since more kids are going to the shows. What I'm thinking of doing sometime is busking. I'll take a bunch of punk mix cds and play songs from them and hand them out instead of people throwing money in a hat
