Give 10 UGers a rope and ask them to pull. 4 will push, 1 will ask for buttsecks, 2 will tell you get an Ibanez and the last 3 will start complaining about Line6 Spiders.

I came up with this kick ass riff on my ukelele when I was 12. Find out two years later, it was smoke on the water. Got my hopes and dreams killed..

Like Marvelboy, I like Page for his versatility, but I also like Malmsteen for his insane classical style, and Frusciante for his simple yet exceptional riffs and solos. But I've always said, it's impossible to try to see which guitarist is best, seeing as how each guitarist is good at his or her own thing and everyone has their own style. Even within genres, each guitarist is going to be different. Take Children of Bodom and Disturbed. Alexi Laiho has a completely different style than Dan Donegan, even though they're both metal guitarists.

That's just my opinion. But what does a 14-year-old Socialist know?

Whoever you like the best.
Every guitarist has a different style, and every person has different tastes.

Thin necks make you play faster because guitars with thin necks sound thin and bad, and you play fast to distract people from the bad tone.

I couldn't pick one so heres my faves in no order : John Frusciante, Jimmy Page, James Hetfield, Kurt Cobain and a shredder Paul Gilbert

Well, as stated in the other hundred best guitarist threads, it depends, there is not a "best guitarist", so stop making threads about them.

^so... who's you're fave? :P

I like satch. idk, he's just the coolest. I'm a Dan Donegan fan too. Vai and Malmsteen are decent, but meh.

I think my favorites are in the order (at the moment)

1. Alexi Laiho (Children Of Bodom, Speed, Agression, The Emodiment of metal)
2. James Hetfield (Leader Of My Gateway Band - Metallica)
3. Buckethead (Speed And Soul...Check Out, Too Many Humans)
4. Matt Heafy (Trivium (Cory's Kinda Bland))
5. Trent Reznor (Not Really Guitarist, But He is a musical genious)
6. Satch (Joe Satriani, Soulful and Fast, but tends to get boring)
7. Dimebag (Blues-y Metal...mmmm)
8. Avenged Sevenfold (They work well together...lol)
9. Tom Morello (RATM...Long live whammy pedal!!)
10. Dark Tranquillity (Dunno Name...but damn he writes complex songs, theoretically speaking)

That seems to be a good variaty, oh ya....KERRY KING LICKS MY TESTICALS! that'll be all for now.

Riffs and solosave Mustaine, James Hetfield, and Kirk Hammett (Megadeth and Metallica has some of the most amazing riffs and solos I have ever heard thrash is the greatest metal ever)

Skill: Yngwie Malmsteen he is so fast it's mindblowing. You all judge him too much on his songs on his records. When you see him live he plays so fast and he just doesn't go over the same note he sweeps and goes all over the fretboard playing blindingly fast.

Joe Satriani nothing more needs to be said, He can play anything from Shred to blues to techno to Experamental stuff and he does it all. He knows that playing fast doesn't mean your good too, he isn't all just super fast but he keeps it good paced and when he plays fast it wows you.

Joe Satriani is SUPER COLOSSAL
