Is it possible to sand down the back of a neck on a guitar to make it thinner?

Yeah, alot of players actually do it from what I hear. Although, I wouldn't recommend it unless you knew what you were doing. You could potentially ruin the curvature and intonation of your neck that way.

you can do it, just make sure that you do it DEAD even, it does help when they are thinner, i have done it

Yeah you can, but it's pretty risky if you don't know exactly how the neck is put together. You don't want to sand through to the truss rod or make it too thin.
