Hey guys, I was wondering what you all thought of the old Fender tube heads? Everyone accociates Hendrix with a bunch of Marshall stacks, but if you watch some of his live videos you will sometimes see a few Fender stacks as well.

(There are some bass heads as well as guitar heads below.. Guitar sounds great through bassman's too :] )

Etc..

As you can see, you can find some pretty cheap.

Are they worth the money? What kind of sound would I be getting from them?

EDIT:I also forgot to ask about the Fender super-sonic head on MF. What kind of sound could I get from it?

Hendrix used a cranked bassman for "Voodoo child (Slight return)" on electric ladyland. For me, Thats one of the BEST tones ever!

and i took my penis off to wash it
but i couldnt figure out how to put it back on

^^You WILL need to crank it a LOT to get any gain (If thats what you want) or use an OD

Yea, With a bassman i'd run it at full output and use an OD if I need to.

I can get a Hotplate for smaller gigs.

If I used a Bassman, would I need to run it through bass cabs? Or would it be ok for guitar cabs since i'm running a guitar signal instead of bass?

It should sound great through a guitar cab but Im no expert. Im 95% sure

Orgasmic cleans, and great blues tones, generally for most Fender valve heads.
Try a few out, don't buy things like these before trying them out!

Yeah, you can run the Bassman through guitar speakers, but I think Hendrix ran his through bass speakers. That will have a big effect on tone.

And instead of buying a Hotplate, get one of these:

Where would I try one out? I don't know anyone who has a vintage Fender tube head..

I know theres that Super-Sonic on MF, mabye I could find it at guitar centre?

There are alot of tube combos on MF, but I don't want to pay extra for a combo because I already have a 120 watt 16 ohm 2x12.

Usually shops that sell used gear have loads of old Fender heads, there's a shop like that near to me.
