hi.
wat type of sander do i use to remove paint from a guitar. ( belt, detail etc)
and how easy or not are they to use.

I tried using a high powered belt sander... that thing tore a chunk out of my bass body.

I suggest a small (make sure its small) handheld orbital, anything much bigger is gonna prove a biatch to control.

It's pretty hard to find someone as hardcore as Tom. The race for hardcore supremacy would be pretty close but i think Tom's got his nose just in front for now...

sand by hand, sure its more work but it will turn out nicer in the end, and make sure that you wear gloves,

80 grit to take finish off
180 to smooth and fill pores
240 to get ready for finishing
400 to make it extra smooth and perfect for finishing

check out my build thread, See my sig

all that was hand sanded the way i told you above...except im not painting mine im using a wood polish so its a lil different.

*make sure you sand with the grain.
