Ok so ive managed to pick up a really strong, well built japanese strat copy for £10, drawback is, the sound sucks.

Im going to replace the pickups, but i want it to be fairly versatile, so i was thinking getting 2 single coils and a hotrail for the bridge pickup (its an sss strat). I want to be able to get a good SRV type bluesy tone, but i also want it to be able to play RATM (as tom morello has a hotrail) but i was wondering if by getting a hotrail in the bridge, i would limit my ability to get a good SRV sound, as i do not know whether he played through a single coil bridge pick up or whatever. Would i be able to get the sounds i want, or for SRV would i need to have a single coil as the bridge pickup?
