i got a crap fender frontman 15r and an rp80 which is also crap. so which one should go to make space for a new family member??

Fender amp ---->Goes bye bye!---->Ibanez valbee or vox ad15vt or Roland cube15
Rp80 -->Goes bye bye!---> some single pedals or another multi Korg1500 or Zoom gfx3

what are your thoughts??

Get the Vox and sell the Fender.
And maybe sell the RP80 aswell? Because the Vox's effects will be a lot better, and buy something like a rake or a selection of fine cheeses.

Sell both, get a Vox and a good multi-effects pedal.
My Gear:
Epiphone SG
Vintage SG
Stagg Strat (With replaced hardware and a Duncan Invader )
Hohner Strat
No name Acoustic
Jim Dunlop Crybaby
Boss MT-2
Boss DS-1
Roland Cube 60
Wires and patch cords and stuff..

^You won't need a multi FX with the Vox, it's got great effects on it already, it's basically a multi FX/modeller with a speaker.

will the onboard effects actualy be considered "gone to waste" if i get pedals??
#8
Depends what pedals, 'coz most of the effects on the Vox are really nice.
You could get a wah though, because you can't really control the autowah.

i cant stand korg effects, they sound so digital to me.
i can hardly find any effects i like on the multis.

what type of music do u play? if its high gain, then roland over vox, IMO.

can u dump everything and save up $225usd? because then u could get a roland cube 30 or vox 30. (both with tons of effects)

when in doubt upgrade ur amp. ur thinking of going from a 15fender to a 15vox.
yes the tone is better, but ur just going to outgrow the new amp too.

hmm...
i see...
well i find ease in using multi-fx. all the patches are easy to use to me. so its just basicaly preferences
i play stuff like alter bridge, trivium, nickelback etc.
sometimes id take the clean for some smooth sounding...

im just in doubt now whether to get the vox and lose a branch in my playing(effects)

make any sense?

here's the thing, even the BEST effects pedal and guitar will sound poor thru a bad amp.

what u have will sound better thru a new vox 15,
but will be best thru the vox30 or roland30 (depending on gain preference.)

not just because its bigger, both have more effects and functions.
But also, when u are using a solid state, its best not to push it too loud or u run the risk of getting a muddy tone.
with more watts at ur disposal u dont run that risk. no reason to push it even as u grow as a player.

I thought the Vox 15 and 30 were the same, apart from watts and speaker size?

Anyway, I vote ValBee.
#16
ahhh, id have to check i thought the vox 30 gives u more effects. lemme look.

ok yeah, u get 11 effects and programs with both but u have to get the $180 vox AD 15VT not the 15W pathfinder, which, giving his price range, is what i think he was looking at.

in that case id still spend the $230 and get the 30 AD tho.

hey jj. would u think i'll be wasting the onboard effects if i got a multi?
#18
and is the pathfinder good??i can get both AD15VT or Pathfinder, my budgets not the problem here. im just looking for a practise amp....

Or buy an amp that has a REALLY good clean channel and put a rp200A or something like hat in front of it...
EX: Fender Dyna touch ( has some FX too)

Youd have to save up and sell the other stuff on ebay but it would be well worth it

yeah, i think this was said already in ur thread but get a good amp like the AD and then maybe save for any additional effects u feel might be lacking.
u would still want a whammy, for example.

IMO unless ur talking about a BOSS gt8, something like that, cheaper multis are pretty lame.
and even then, i prefer single effects.
