Is there any Fuzz pedal (Not a genuine vintage one that will cost me an arm and a leg!) that could help me accurately capture Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Child tone?

I've heard that Voodoo Child (Slight Return) was recorded on a cranked Bassman, not too sure though, I heard so about a day ago from someone on here.

That might have been me that said that! I had a thread about that yesterday! Do you know any fuzz that would get near "that" tone

I'm guessing a Fuzz Face, but not one of the reissues, trust me.
Maybe a clone of a vintage one?

The closest I've got was by diming the boost on my 535Q wah. There really isn't a lot of fuzz in voodoo chile, it's mostly the wah you hear. Try parking a boosted wah in one spot. The right spot seems to be about 2/3 of the way towards the toe for me.

No fuzz? Ive aldready got a dinlop crybaby. I didnt think tht there was any fuzz until some guy wo has been covering hendrix numbers for 30 years said that he used an arbiter fuzzface in the recording, but they cost LOADS nowadays, their rare too

Dunlop made a reissue, but they're crap...
There are boutique ones, but they cost at least 120 bucks...
That kind of fuzz is pretty much dead, unless you have alot of cash, or some determination.
And if you have determination, here is where you belong:

I actually think Boss made a fuzz, the FZ-3, but they're pretty rare now...
And they're definetely not going to have vintage tone.

By the way, It sounds like a cool thing you've got going there. If only I had the determination, or the skills or....well basically ive got nothing!

here's what he used.

No fuzz. Nevertheless, if you want the jimi sound, you will of course need a fuzz.
(Don't get the big muff for hendrix though. it's good but it sounds nothing like a fuzz face. Despite what EH claims, he never used one. They came out after he died )

What kind of sound would I get from a big muff, Who uses one?

I think in Manic Depression, he turns the gain down on the fuzz face, so it's more of a slight fuzz/distortion. Either that or he turns the guitar's volume down while playing with the Fuzz Face on.

I've heard good things about Analog man's Sun Face.
http://www.analogman.com/fuzzface.htm
Also you can send him your reissue fuzz face and they'll mod it to the sun face specs.

That pedal is just a marketing ploy, its not good at all. If you want a real Jimi pedal chech out the Captian Coconut 2 pedal that KWS uses it has Fuzz, Univibe, and octavia.
